It’s been almost nine months since the last “curtain” on the Adventurer’s Club in Disney World’s Downtown Disney, and I figured some of us might be in withdrawal.
Kungalooshes are few and far between these days (they pop up from time to time in Disney World, and you can get them at Trader Sam’s in Disneyland), but when it’s late…and you’re lonely…you can always mix up a pitcher at home.
Well, it doesn’t HAVE to be late…and you don’t HAVE to be lonely…:
Kungaloosh Recipe (Frozen)
1 cup Daily’s Strawberry Daiquiri Mix
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
1/4 cup blackberry brandy
Toss it in a blender with enough ice to make it slushy, or serve over ice.
Kungaloosh Recipe (On the Rocks)
1 1/4 ounce vodka
1 1/4 ounce Malibu Rum
3/4 ounce Midori (melon liqueur)
2 tablespoons pineapple juice
1 splash cranberry juice
Mix well.
These recipes are from All Ears Net. The Frozen version is the recipe used from about the year 2000 forward. (It’s certainly the one I remember.) And the on-the-rocks version is the recipe used in the 90s.
Kungaloosh!
What are your favorite Adventurer’s Club memories??

I never got there! It was always in the plan to go when the kids were older and we could finally slip away on our own, and just as that happened, it closed. 🙁 Maybe I’ll mix myself a Kungaloosh and try to capture the spirit.
AJ says
Great idea, Sherri!! 🙂 Mix it up and find some old Adventurer’s Club videos on youtube!

Oh My! This sound right up our alley! We will have to give it a try for sure!
AJ says
Brooke — I think you guys will love it.

I was there for the grand opening of Pleasure Island and I still have my Adventurer’s Club pin. Having successfully completed the chicken dance on the bar, with the maid, pins were given to all of us brave souls who were chosen to participate in the festivities. Never missed a year going to WDW and the Adventurer’s Club was a must visit. While I still enjoy the flavor of a Kungaloosh at home nothing can ever bring back the spirit and ambiance of the AC. Kungaloosh!
AJ says
Bill — Such great memories!!! Agreed, it’s never the same. Kungaloosh!

I loved the Adventurer’s Club! So sad I didn’t get a chance to go back – they closed just after the first time I went there, on my 21st birthday. My family took me all around Pleasure Island to celebrate being old enough to get in, and we ended up at the Adventurer’s Club all night.
Favorite memory was walking out of the main hall, one of the animatronics on the wall referenced the fact that I was wearing jeans under my sundress (it had gotten cold that night) by saying “She’s wearing a dress! She’s wearing pants! She’s wearing a dress! She’s wearing pants! She can’t decide!” as I walked past. Awesome!

What ever happened to the awesome adventurers club? And any news to it coming back?? So many great memories and laughs there!! Totally miss it and feel like it’s such a loss to Disney. As 2 adults with no kids this was a must for us. Who makes these decisions to close such a great place for adults to have a drink up on the second level and of course a trip in the library, what are they thinking!!
Brooke says
Dina — We are soooooo with you on that one — and so are lots of others! Here’s hoping that something like it returns, or that the new Grog Grotto opening at the Polynesian captures some of that fun flavor (and fun drinks. 😉 )

Both of these are very good cocktails. Although I never got to experience the original Adventurer’s Club, I have been to and participate in their annual Adventures in Charity event. Though not affiliated with Disney, most of the original members get together and reminisce about the old times and put on a little show and cocktail hour for charity fundraising here in Orlando.
Maria says
Can someone tell me when and where is the annual Kungaloosh event?
Stan L. says
Thanks. I’ve never seen specific brands for the on the frozen version before.
Heck, one Disney cookbook calls for strawberry puree.

Just found this again. My husband and I went to Disney World for two weeks for our honeymoon way back in 1993, and early on in the trip we discovered Pleasure Island and The Adventurer’s Club, which became one of the highlights. We still have the commemorative glasses we drank our Kungalooshes out of all these years later. I may have to mix up a couple of “old style” ones this weekend.
