Friends of the Food Blog, I need your guidance. My favorite alcoholic drink in Disney World is being phased out, and I need a replacement. Stat.
Born at 8 Trax Dance Club in the now-defunct Pleasure Island, the Leisure Suit was everything delicious all in one glass:
Now, a combination of 8 Trax closing and the “standard” drink menu being ushered into all Disney restaurants and bars a few years ago has meant that my beloved Leisure Suit is fading fast.
Luckily, as you see above, some of the more experienced Disney bartenders (this one’s from Petal’s Pool Bar at Pop Century) do remember the drink and can find the recipe in the hard-copy rolodex behind the bar. But I can’t always rely on the kindness of strangers…and I’m getting tired of explaining the long list of ingredients 😉
So it’s become clear that I’m going to have to find a new favorite drink in Disney World — preferably one that’s still readily available somewhere — and I’m coming to you guys for suggestions.
What’s your favorite? It can be from anywhere: World Showcase, your favorite Resort restaurant, a Pool Bar, a theme park Restaurant…anywhere! Let me know via email, facebook, or twitter! Hopefully I’ll get enough suggestions that I can post a “top three” list next week!
Thanks in advance!

Wow, that sounds delicious!!
I’m not a HUGE drinker, but my favorite drink ever in my entire life was at Coral Reef Cafe long ago. It was when I was visiting Orlando with my mom in 1995 before we moved there from Boston. I had JUST turned 21 a few months prior, so it was quite exciting. Sadly, I can’t remember what it was called at all…but I know it had Chambord and cream in it lol. So I’m not much help at all, but just wanted to share my fav drink! I’ll look for more ideas when we go in August!! I also want to try the Cotton-tini at T-Rex, the martini with cotton candy in it!

Zanna — Cotton-tini?! Sounds super sweet! Thanks for the suggestions!

I’m not a drinker but I hear the drinks at The Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Resort are awesome. Let us know when you decide on your new favorite. It’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it, right?

The Grand Marnier Orange Slushy from the drink cart in the France Pavilion. I’m not even a fan of Grand Marnier, but this drink was so wonderfully refreshing and delicious!
admin says
@Heidi I will let you know! I’m getting so many great suggestions on facebook and twitter, too!
@Shayne Sounds yummy. Sounds like World Showcase is a contender…

I’m more of a beer drinker, so I love World Showcase! When I’m feeling like a good mixed drink, I love the Backscratcher at Tambu Lounge. Here is my list of faves:
Tambu Lounge @ Poly: Backscratcher (especially love grabbing one to go and watching Wishes from the beach), Mai Tai
Tune-In @ DHS: Long Island Iced Tea (Mario makes a darn good strong one!), Dad’s Electric Lemonade
For blended drinks:
Sand Bar @ Contemporary: Orange Creamsicle
Mexico’s Margarita Stand: Strawberry Margarita
France: Gran Marnier & Gre Goose Limon Slushies (to agree with Shayne!)

My all time favorite drink at the Territory Lounge in the Wilderness Lounge is something you won’t find on any menu anywhere. It is called the Territory-tini. It goes like this:
1.5 oz of Captain Morgan
3/4 oz of Grand Mariner (spelling off, I’m sure)
Sour mix
Splash of OJ
shake with ice
Pour into a martini glass rimmed with cinnamon and sugar. Garnish with an organge slice.

@Dawn, that sounds amazing! I’ll add it to the list!

The Cotton-ini at T-rex in the “tropical” flavor was Awesome I just had it today with my husband.
It was Blue raspberry cotton candy with Malibu, Pineapple juice, and Orange juice poured on top.
It was Nummy!

Sounds DEELISH, Aly! Thanks for the news!

DEF the Magical Star… its available at all of the DW restaurants!!
Alan says
The Mississippi Mud Slide that was a featured drink at The River Roost in the Riverside at PO is a nice twist on the normal mud slide. They substitute chambord ( a rasperrry liquor ) instead of Kahlua. With the standardized drink menu however, some of the fun of visiting the various bars has been diminished. At that same bar they cannot even make a Stinger!
AJ says
Megan — thanks for the info!
Alan — Great idea!! Can I get it while watching Ye-haa Bob? Also, no kidding about the standard drink menu. Ugh.

Just returned from Disney and 2 new favorite drinks!! An Armadillo Sour (Disney West Side) and a Tropical Lemonade (Beach club Captains rest).
Does anyone know the ingredients?? I really hope I don’t have to wait until I return in April 2012 to have another one of each!!!
Joanne says
Poolside Plunge at the Beach Club! Bacardi black razz rum, odwalla lemonade, and a splash of grenadine and sprite. Refreshing but hit’s you! At most resort pool bars.

My all time favorite was a drink made at Pleasure Island’s old Neon Armadillo. It was called the Fussy Armadillo. I know for certain that it had Captain Morgan Spiced rum, blueberry schnapps and cranberry juice in it. I suspect there were a few other ingredients but I have no idea what the proportions were. I would REALLY like to find out!!!!!!
