UPDATE: Read about the Opening Date for Be Our Guest Restaurant and Reservations Info!
I’m reporting this week from the Walt Disney World Media Event showcasing the new Give a Day, Get a Disney Day volunteer program! Last night was the kick-off event, and we heard some fun dining news and got to taste some great eats over at the ESPN Wide World of Sports! (Psst — if you just want to see pics from the kick-off party, scroll down.)
Disney Food News
Unfortunately, I didn’t hear any BRAND new Disney food news, but recently opened restaurants Kouzzina and Sanaa were mentioned, along with the upcoming Be Our Guest restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern, to be found in the new-and-improved Fantasyland in 2012.
Other fun mentions that some of you might not have heard about are the two new, “interactive” restaurants on board the brand new Disney Cruise Line cruise ship, The Disney Dream. These include the Enchanted Garden, which magically transforms your surroundings from early morning to a night sky while you dine, and the Skyline Lounge, which has walls that change to reflect a new city scape each day!
Media Event Treats and Eats
The event kick-off was held in the ESPN Wide World of Sports on Walt Disney World property. The first part of the evening was a “What’s New” session in the Milk House, and the second part was a rockin’ party!
Because this took place at the Sports Paradise that is Wide World of Sports, we were treated to a delicious, action-themed smorgasbord of flavors. (Kudos to the caterers!) Each table was associated with a particular sport! Here are the items from the “Football” tables…
The soup and croutons were the hit of my evening!
Of course there were lots of of other goodies to be had, like the bread pudding and cotton candy from the “Golf” tables:
Hot dogs from the “Baseball” tables:
Philly Cheese Steaks from the “Basketball” tables:
An assortment of “Take Me Out To the Ballgame” snacks like cracker jack and peanuts:
And…well…”these little beauties:”
Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale even showed up to share their sports enthusiasm with us!
And this was only the first evening! Stay tuned for more food reporting tomorrow…
Disclosure: Transportation, food, and accommodations for the the author have been complementary for this event.

Oh, I am incredibly jealous! I’d have been stuffing my pockets with food to take back to my room and eat all night! The cheese soup and pretzel bread does look delish.
