There have been lots of updates and rumors coming out of Disneyland in the past week, so I figured I’d gather them all into one big Disneylandia update! 😉
New Dining Coming Soon to the Disneyland Hotel
Disneyland Hotel will be renovating their Never Land pool area, and new dining will come along with it! Two new dining spots will be introduced in 2011, including one table-service restaurant reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s era “Tahitian Terrace” restaurant. A lounge/bar will be added, which will draw from the “adventure” theme of the Jungle Cruise attraction. These additions will be slotted into the area now occupied by Hook’s Pointe, Croc’s Bites and Bits, the Wine Cellar, and the Lost Bar.
Gepetto’s Sweet Shoppe Now Open
Opened on May 26th, 2010, Geppetto’s Sweet Shoppe in Fantasyland offers delicious sweet treats. Unfortunately, I’m hearing reports that there’s nothing “original,” such as the Tigger Tails or Pooh’s Hunny Pot apples in Pooh’s Corner — it’s all pretty much the standard Disneyland candy and things you can get elsewhere. Hopefully they’ll come up with some exclusive items for Gepetto to sell 😉
World of Color Dining Packages Announced
You can dine at Ariel’s Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria and receive preferred seating for the World of Color Show. See our World of Color Dining Packages post for details!

Two steps forward, one step back.
What a cool, kitschy idea for a restaurant in the middle of a cool, kitschy hotel.
I love it when Disney looks back to its history to start moving forward. The 50-year celebration was fantastic, and hopefully they will continue to celebrate 1955.
But on the other hand, we continue to see the homogenization of snack shops and souvenir stores. Why can’t we infuse the proposed charm of this Tahitian Terrace with these smaller shops scattered throughout the parks?

Awesome. I can’t wait to see what the new restaurant at DL hotel will look like and if they will have character dining (breakfast). We’ve already done all the character dining opportunities in the DL hotels. Hopefully, this one doesn’t disappoint. The others haven’t so far.

Nate — Agreed; Disney’s moving more and more toward “universality” of the parks — everything’s the same! Disney’s usually been able to make me believe that profits weren’t necessarily driving *every* decision, but I’m starting to lose that belief these days…
Lillian — I wonder, too. They do have Goofy’s Kitchen right there, so I’d be surprised if this one had characters. They say it’s “smart casual,” so it might be a pricey one.
Beth says
I can’t believe they are taking away the Wine Cellar!
AJ says
Beth — Not SURE they’re taking it AWAY…I haven’t heard the details 🙂 That would be awful, wouldn’t it??? I’m hoping they can magically build the stuff and just *move* the wine cellar…
