Disneyland’s Village Haus has some delicious-looking new menu items! Thanks to Jobber99 (aka Jon Chua) and he and his wife’s trusty flickr photo streams, we have some pics! Thanks again, guys!
The new menu includes…
Angus ⅓ lb. Pastrami Cheeseburger
Angus chuck burger, pastrami, pickles, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, lettuce and a creamy horseradish sauce
Chicken Sausage
Topped with sauerkraut served in a pretzel roll
BLT Flat Bread Pizza
Thin flat bread crust, cherrywood-smoked bacon, provolone and mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions, marinated tomatoes and arugula-fennel salad
Dessert includes Black Forest Cupcakes or Warm Apple Strudel.
The kids menu offers a hamburger, pizza or macaroni and cheese, all served with sliced apples and a choice of a small low-fat milk, Minute-Maid juice or small Dasani water. Kids under age 3 can choose “Yummy Cheesy Macaroni” served with smooth applesauce and a small low-fat milk.

Doesn’t look like much for vegetarians there. I notice many places are shifting to Angus burgers these days. My husband and son dislike the taste of it, so I may have to start reading the menus more closely as burgers are a basic Disney food group for them. The chicken sausage might fly though! I wonder if the strudel is the usual gooey premade mess or if it is more like the fresher one served at Germany in Epcot.

So far, we’ve sampled each of the new menu items except for the cupcake.
The flatbread pizza was fantastic the first time I had it, just okay the second time. The second go-around it seemed too salty to me, which is saying a lot because I love salt. It’s still a solid choice though.
My husband and daughter enjoyed the pastrami burger, but my husband wanted the horseradish sauce to have a little more bite to it.
The sausage was just kind of meh. It was standard sausage, nothing exciting. They pretzel roll wasn’t very pretzel-y.
The apple strudel was great, and the vanilla bean sauce really had vanilla bean bits in it. Very tasty!
Overall, I like the menu changes, and will definitely be getting the flatbread pizza again.

Oh, there is also a new apple-cheddar salad on the menu. We haven’t tried that yet, but I believe it’s a vegetarian choice, although not vegan.

Sandra — Good question on the strudel! I’m hoping we get a pic submitted soon.
Maseca — Thank you so much for the reviews!! I’m particularly excited about those desserts… 😉

First, I am VERY sad that they decided to drop the Pinocchio theming from the Village Haus especially with the new fantasyland expansion.
Also, the menu really is quite bare from what has been presented from Disney compared to what it used to be but at least it seems as though they are trying to focus more on the quality of food being put out.

My family shared the cupcake and the strudel last week. I was not impressed with the strudel. It’s puff pastry and ours was chewy and not light like you want it to be. It was also cold when I got it. It is supposed to be warm, ours just wasn’t. The filling was pretty good. It had apples and also either craisins or raisins (I couldn’t tell because it all tasted apple-y). The vanilla sauce is the same vanilla anglaise that they serve with the Mickey beignets at Cafe Orleans and is yummy. Always thought it kind of tasted like melted ice cream so it was good with the apples. Just wish the crust was flakier.
The cupcake was pretty good. It’s a lot bigger than I thought it would be. A good snack to share (or not). The cake was pretty moist and I loved the chocolate mousse filling. The inside also had glazed cherries. My kids did not like the cherries that were in the middle, so I got to eat them. 🙂 The frosting is more whipped cream than frosting. And there’s a heap of it. Wish it was a buttercream or sweeter whipped. But it was still yummy. I’d definitely get the cupcake again.

Man, that burger looks good. I’m not usually a fan of “meat on meat” burgers but that picture makes me want to lick the screen.

great write-up, the pretzel roll chicken sausage was by far the winner. it’s like jody maroni but with better bread. and priced reasonably too

Thanks for the great review! We’ve never eaten at the Village Haus and never had a Disney burger before (based on meh reviews online), but the new menu is pretty exciting. Chicken sausage is not really my thing (why oh why didn’t they go with a classic Bavarian bratwurst?), but the flatbread and angus burger with pastrami sound intriguing. I’ll definitely get the apple strudel and black forest cupcake though. I prefer less sweet desserts and whipped cream over icing or frosting, so this cupcake sounds perfect!

Josh — Just a quick note — this is Fantasyland in Disneyland, not Disney World, so there’s no expansion going on here 🙂 Still, I’m sad to see the Pinocchio go as well, since it’s represented in at least three of the Disney parks around the world.
Lynette — That strudel sounds amazing… maybe it’s just that I’m on a diet now… 😉 I wonder if the cupcake is similar to the black forest cupcake they sell at the Contemporary in Disney World…
GG — I think that pic could either gross you out or make you drool, so I’m glad it did the latter for you!
jon — Thanks again!! And thanks for the review.
Madoka — You make my heart sad by saying you prefer whipped cream over icing/frosting, but I’m sure I’ll recover 😉 Let us know when you try the Village Haus! 🙂

All I can say is *drooool*…..

We went to the new Village Haus in January, lured in by the promise of Black Forest Cupcakes. I had the burger, which was great. My vegetarian wife loved the salad. And we both loved the cupcakes. May have a new favorite Disneyland restaurant!

I got all excited for those items– until I realized it was Disneyland 🙁 Here’s hoping we get some of those items at WDW!
Lynnette says
Don’t understand why people think Pinocchio is gone. This is still a totally Pinocchio themed restaurant. Where’d that idea that it wasn’t even come from?
AJ says
Lynnette — my bad. Will change!

My husband and I tried the BLT Flatbread Pizza when we were at Disneyland the first week of March and we both absolutely loved it! I can honestly say it was the best pizza I’ve ever had!
AJ says
Wow; that’s awesome!! Thanks Tara!
