Our Dining in Disneyland columnist, Heather Sievers, celebrated Lunar New Year in Disneyland with this special egg roll!
A few weekends ago, I had the chance to visit Disneyland’s special “Family Fun Weekends” event for Lunar New Year. The celebration was held in the Festival Arena next to Big Thunder Ranch. The decor was amazing and there were special character appearances that included Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale, Mulan & Mushu, all dressed in traditional Chinese costumes.
My focus though: the food! There was a special menu for the event and Family Fun Weekends, including the egg rolls.
I immediately honed in on the little egg roll cart in the corner and decided to take one for the team. I found a nice little table where my boys could watch the karate performance and I could enjoy my snack!
The egg roll was vegetarian and came nice and warm in a little foil pouch. It included a small container of hot mustard and a pre-packaged sweet and sour sauce packet.
I’m not a huge hot mustard fan, but I did give it a try. A bit too spicy for my taste. The sweet and sour however was the perfect companion for my egg roll.
The outside wrapper was crisp and not too oily, and the inside veggies were a pretty typical “American” egg roll mix: mostly cabbage and lettuce. Honestly, I really enjoyed the flavor and it was fun to try something different at Disneyland.
And as an added bonus, it came with a fortune cookie!
The egg roll was $4, which I thought to be a bit pricey for the size, but since it was a special event, it was definitely worth a try.
Also available for purchase at the Lunar New Festival were various teas from a cute little cart that was set up in the middle of everything.
Another great event at Disneyland!

Those look good. I wish that DLR served Asian food more often, although I agree. $4- for an egg role is a bit much.
