Disney World’s Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue Dinner Show has undergone some significant changes over the past few weeks. Due to contractual, copyright, and legal issues, some of the show’s songs have been eliminated from the performance — including the well known “Hoop Dee Doo Polka” that started every show!
Here is a video which includes the original opening number:
And here is its replacement…

Hope the Strawberry Shortcake song isn’t going anywhere…! See our review of the food here.

NOOOOO!!!!! Didn’t watch the videos because I’ll be there soon and don’t want to ruin it for myself but still, NOOOOOO!!!!!! I loved the Hoop Dee Doo!
Jason says
We saw it end of July. We had never seen it before and we loved it.

Brandy — I think a lot of it is still the same; not too many worries, my friend!
Jason — So glad you got to see it! It’s such a great show!

I mourn this kind of change in such an iconic show. Disney has enough financial wherewithal to deal with the copyright and legal issues, so I’m very disappointed about this news.

This is such a difficult topic. One hates to see such an iconic show changed, We all mourn when any of our favorites are closed or changed. I have a theory that we all want WDW to remain exactly the same as it was the first time we went or whenever it was that we fell in love with it. It is a dangerous thing to have our fondest memories trifled with.
But we all have to realize something. The secret of WDW’s success is the constant change. I wish it was the exact same as when I first visited in 1986. My memories are so warm. But think about this; there were only 3 Disney Hotels, 1 water park, 2 theme parks and the smaller eastern side of the shopping area.(Downtown Disney) If they had stopped there, look at what we would have all missed.

Just got back today and I have to say that although I did like the old songs better, this was not bad. I would definitely still go see as I LOVE the Hoop Dee Doo and it is a must do every time we go. I will still miss the old songs, but the change is not bad.

When did the changes take place? We saw it on September 30th and it was great!

Sooo very sad… Just learned of the change to HDDR… Been going to WDW since 1973… I have seen this show so many times over the years. I missed it on our last trip in 2010, was first time I visited and did not go…. Now I really wish I had… Oh well time marches on… I remember the make your own pizza at Pioneer hall and pitchers of sarsaparilla with the player piano sing alongs.. At 45 I am taking my own family there now… DVC members… Every two years for two weeks… Still love the land of mouse… Some changes are good… Others…. Not so much… Will be back at HDDR this December at Xmas … We will see how the change impacts…. Hoop dee dooo, hoop dee doo.

So when you sau they took out the Hoop Dee Doo Polka (I could not view the video)
Is that where they sing “HOOP Dee Do, HOOP Dee Doo…..” That is my favorite song.
Do they still do the wash boards?
