I’m excited to welcome Guest Reviewer Holly Burtchaell from Random Cravings Blog with a fun review of treats found at this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World! Warning: This read is sugar-sweet!
Although Mr. Random and I have clocked too many trips to Disney World to count, somehow, neither of us has ever experienced Christmas at the Happiest Place on Earth. Luckily, that all changed last week, when we spent an entire week immersed in Disney Christmas happiness. In fact, this year’s very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) was also our very first time at that event!
I quickly learned that in addition to being about the Christmas parade, the special fireworks, and the rare character appearances, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is also filled with yummy holiday treats!
Free Eats at MVMCP
Included with your ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are complimentary cookies and hot cocoa, along with healthier options of apple slices and apple juice. These treats were handed out at several locations around the Magic Kingdom…just follow the signs!
This year’s cookies were big, soft, delicious snickerdoodles. The apple slices were the packaged kind you find in kids’ school lunches, which I happen to enjoy –- they are crisp and juicy, and tasted relatively fresh.
The hot chocolate and apple juice were served in the same holiday to-go cups and were both perfectly enjoyable options.
Holiday Goodies at the Main Street Confectionery
Now…no trip to the Magic Kingdom is truly delicious until you experience the bakery counter at the Main Street Confectionery.
Home to gigantic caramel apples, cupcakes with mountains of frosting, huge decorated cookies and so many other insanely decadent treats, I just had to find out what yummy Christmas options were waiting for me in that bakery case!
I stared at that bakery case, my eyes glazing over in dreamy delight, trying to choose which yummy treats I would bring back to our room to sample. Remember, many of these items are available throughout the holiday season — not just at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
Being a sucker for caramel apples, the Christmas-decorated Mickey, Minnie and snowman apples were calling my name! The beautifully iced Christmas cookies and Mickey gingerbread men were huge temptations – just their aroma made it truly feel like Christmas!
Which holiday delights did I end up enjoying, you ask? Never being one who could make up her mind, I brought two treats back to our room to enjoy!
The snowman caramel apple was, in a word, DECADENT. A huge granny smith apple, covered first in caramel, then in white chocolate, was decorated with chocolate candies, sour belts and a marshmallow head topped with sugar Mickey ears.
Needless to say, this is a gigantic treat best shared with a few people –- which makes it even more fun!
The gingerbread Mickeys were my favorite holiday treat –- aromatic, soft, spiced cookies happily iced in red and green to celebrate the holidays!
I have to tell you –- I had a few of these cookies during our stay at Walt Disney World, and every time they brought me back to sitting in front of the fireplace wrapped in a cozy blanket on Christmas Eve.
Next time we visit the Magic Kingdom during the holiday season, I will be sure to pack some zipper-top bags to bring some of these happy little treats back home with me to keep the magic going!
Leaving Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Now I have to tell you about another tasty surprise during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
After a ridiculously fun evening of fireworks, parades, characters and delicious holiday treats, one more surprise was waiting for us as we left the party.
As we exited the Magic Kingdom, cast members dressed in their Christmas party best were handing out Ghirardelli peppermint squares to everyone! This sweet holiday treat held us over while we walked back to our room at Bay Lake Tower clutching our purchases from the Main Street Confectionery.
As far as I know, the snickerdoodles and apple slices are the only holiday treats exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and all of the treats at the Confectionery are available during the entire holiday season.
Which are your favorites? Just chime in below in the comments section to let us know what Christmassy treats you’d pick up at the party!

This makes me so excited! MVMCP is my favorite hard ticketed event at WDW, and this year we’re attending as part of the D23 Magic and Merriment Event!!!

At the party last week the bakery was selling a gingerbread “frame” cookie with an iced photo of the castle in the center of the cookie. A cast member said it was exclusive to the party. Could not resist and at $3.29 a large, yummy treat!

We were there last Friday and loved MVMCP. Fairly short lines, great treats (even snuck in a Dole Whip before Aloha Isle closed) and lots of Christmas cheer. We had such a hard time deciding between the caramel apple or the loads-o-frosting cupcakes with Christmas sprinkles while at the Confectionary, but finally grabbed the cupcake. It was soft and the icing was fantastic. I highly recommend obtaining one!
The hot cocoa and cookies were pretty good, though the lines were ridiculous (especially at Crystal Palace before the 10:30 parade). Our MVMCP was sold out, so maybe it won’t be that bad on other nights. The cocoa was well mixed, hot and had plenty of marshmallows while the cookies had good flavor for mass-produced snickerdoodles. They were very generous with the cookies and handed out three and four per guest. The treats were the perfect accompaniment to the snow on Main Street while waiting for the parade.
Overall, I give the treats at the party an enthusiastic thumbs-up. Can’t wait until next year!

Looks yummy! Our first MVMCP visit is in a couple weeks(also grandpa’s 1st visit), yeah! Does anyone know if the hot chocolate is Ghiradelli’s? I think I read somewhere that they are a sponsor of the party. Just wondering, cause it’s so yummy.
Va- thanks for sharing about the gingerbread “frame”, hope we can get one too!

I’ve never had cookies from Disney World believe it or not. For some reason I in vision them super hard and stale and the frosting will taste super sugary. I’m going to the world again in Jan and plan to try a cookie from the Main Street Bakery. Thank you for the review!

I can’t wait! We’ll be attending our first MVMCP real soon after a cruise! I’m soooo excited! We have been for NYE, but not for the party! I’m really looking forward to those apples! But I must say cookies and hot cocoa will be fun too! *o*
Thanks for the tasty pics!

I like to consider myself a cookie connoisseur, as it IS my favorite food group and I have tried an incredible amount of cookies from grocery store to decadent from high end bakeries. That being said, one of the reasons I love MVMCP, is the FREE COOKIES! That’s a party done right in my book! Granted, they are mass produced, and not the best cookies in the world, they are still yummy. I can’t wait to try this year’s snicker doodles. My only sad complaint, is the hot chocolate/apple juice cup don’t seem to say MVMCP on them this year. Just a bit sad for me to see that go =[ HOWEVER, I do not remember ever getting free candy at the end, so I like that edition!

I didn’t have any of these treats on my last visit, but I did have a snowman frosted rice crispie treat and it was YUMMY! Two of us split it and it was plenty.

I loved MVMCP. I didn’t care much for the cookies. I had two hot chocolates that were luke warm at best. It did taste good and was better than a cold drink. It was a very cold night when I went.

I also saw the Christmas Carmel apples at Goofy’s Candy Co. at Downtown Disney.

Thanks for the info, JoAnn!

TinkyMurph– The hot cocoa is Nestle, which is also what is served during the day if you ever order hot cocoa. :]
Also, if there are special food allergies, treat locations should (Columbia Harbor House does for sure, not 100% sure about everywhere else) have gluten free butterscotch cookies, sugar free cookies, and sugar free hot cocoa as well. Happy Holidays!

I’ve been to WDW 7 times before but never at Christmas but I am going this year and I can’t wait for all this stuff! I want to eat everything on the page and definitely will be going to MVMCP! Thanks for the preview (even though I know things could change for this year).

Just wanted to let everyone know this year they handed out chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles. You could ask for either. It didn’t seem like MVMCP without snicerdoodles so that’s what we got. Merry Christmas to all!!
