We threw out an inquiry asking for favorite Disney soups and got back a crockful of great ideas! Soups are satisfying meals and hearty snacks and can really warm you up on a chilly park day. Disney’s been working overtime creating memorable ones!

Gorgonzola Onion Soup with Pear and Bacon Garnish at Grand Floridian Cafe
The hands down favorite soup mentioned was the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup at Epcot’s Le Cellier. Honorable mentions go to the soup selection at Boma and the French Onion Soup at Les Chefs de France.

Margaret C. even has a cost-saving tip. She suggests “a bowl of that delicious soup along with the pretzel bread is a meal in itself.” We’re all about appetizers too!
Boma Soups
The soups at the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Boma Restaurant were also highly recommended. According to Tareah G., “The Boma soups are out of this world”!
Chicken Coconut Curry (find the recipe and how-to here!), Mulligatawny, Carrot and Ginger, Seafood, Butternut Squash, and Chicken Corn Chowder were mentioned as being memorable.

French Onion Soup
The light and mild broth is topped with perfectly melted and bubbly Gruyere cheese. You can smell this one coming a mile away! This isn’t too strong an onion flavor, so even the kiddos will like it if they’re a bit adventurous.

Other Soup Suggestions
There were so many soup ideas that we have to serve up some of them here so we don’t forget to try one (or more ;-)) on our next Disney vacation.
The super-creamy Potato & Leek Soup at Epcot’s Rose and Crown got some votes (it’s one of my favorites — see recipes here!), as did the rich and deep Smoky Portobello Soup at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge. The BLT Soup at Sci-Fi Dine-In in Disney’s Hollywood Studios was raved about.

A Few of My Recent Favorites
As you know, I’m a big soup fan, so I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few of my recent favorites, too! Note that many of these may have been temporary additions to the menus, but there’s no harm in asking about them if you don’t see them!

Tomato Basil Soup
The creamy tomato basil soup at Pinocchio Village Haus in the Magic Kingdom was one of my favorite finds when I was researching the Disney Food Blog Guide to Magic Kingdom Snacks e-Book last year! This snack is super-flavorful and a perfect way to fill up when you’re touring the park.

Zellwood Corn Soup
This geeeeeorgous, smooth, creamy corn soup was served to me with a little tiny grilled cheese and caviar garnish. Hubba hubba!! While it’s a seasonal menu, I’m sure that the Waldorf Astoria Orlando’s Bull and Bear Restaurant has a similarly delicious soup on its menu now.

OK, OK, I haven’t tried this one yet! But it’s Heather’s favorite, so I think it deserves to be on our DFB list! You can find this at Carnation Cafe in Disneyland!

Over at Pacific Wharf Cafe in Disney California Adventure, the bread bowls are well known! I snagged a lunch of corn chowder in one of these gorgeous edible sourdough boules.

The butternut squash soup at Bistro de Paris is absolutely incredible. It’s served with shrimp, roasted hazelnuts, and these amazing little croutons. It truly is a bowl of buttery bliss 🙂
Back in the day the Artist Point had a cream of onion soup that was delish! It was creamy and oniony but not too much of either, it was a whole meal in a bowl of soup and that was when the Artist Point did their fresh bread with apple butter…mmm. There was also the cream of wild rice soup at Victoria and Alberts…potato leek at Rose and Crown is still a fav as is the BLT at the Sci Fi. I think I am going to have to have soup for lunch now 🙂
My husband and I love all the soups at Boma (which we will be eating at soon!) and I also wanted to mention I had an out of this world corn soup at Victoria and Alberts when we ate there Oct 2010 that was ridiculous!
I’ve heard that you can go to Le Cellier and order the soup and pretzel bread to go! I’ve never tried to do that, but I just might this fall!
I agree marcellina. My favorite soups are at Boma. I love the Carrot Ginger soup and the Butternut Squash soup. I always try to find the buffet rotation before we go to see which night to book a Boma ADR.
I love the Lobster Bisque at Chefs de France.
I love the Conch Chowder at Olivia’s Restaurant at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. It is full of vegetables and a wonderful broth….not heavy at all!
I could make an entire meal out of the soups at Boma, but their black-eyed pea and parsnip soup is definitely my favorite!
I love the Wonton Soup at Yak and Yeti. I got it expecting regular run of the mill wonton soup, but was blown away by the flavor. Best and most flavorful wonton soup I’ve ever had.

I love Lobster Bisque and the one they serve at the Chefs de France is always tasty.
Beer + Cheese + Popcorn + Bacon? Yes, pleeeeease! Drip some ranch dressing in there, and it’s like the world’s most perfect food! 😀
Also, the corn chowder at Storyteller’s Cafe at the Grand Californian is yumm-o!
While WAY off the radar, the butternut squash soup at Tony’s Town Square is great. Available in fall, its topped with a curry cream drizzle. Storyteller’s at the Grand Californian has a signature roasted corn chowder that’s worth the trip as well.
Eek, and I forgot Napa Rose’s mushroom cappuccino soup! The flavor is spectacular, although I like it warmer than its usually served.

When I dined at San Angel Inn back in September 2007 they had, believe it or not, a corn chowder on their lunch menu. It was awesome! I wish I had of taken a picture of it because I’ve never seen it on any of the online menus and I’ve never heard of anyone else ever ordering it. I’m not sure why it happened to be there when I was there. It even caught me offguard because I had checked multiple online menus before I left for the trip and it wasn’t there. I didn’t take a picture because I figured it was a new addition and websites would eventually update their menus with the soup, but it never did make it onto any online menu. So weird!
Anyway, the soup was very good, nice and creamy with lots of flavour. Too bad it didn’t last.
Oh my, and how did I forget the Gumbo at Disneyland?!? I prefer the vegetarian gumbo at the Royal Street Verandah. Inside the Blue Bayou, the gumbo is good but heavy on the dirty rice so I gotta go with the bread bowl outside. In fact, I often do pretty much hitting every trip longer than a day.

The Butternut squash soup at Animal Kingdom Lodge….I get a takeout cup and sit on the veranda and watch the animals YMMMMM
I absolutely love the Santa Rosa Corn Chowder that used to be served at Boudin’s Pacific Wharf Café @ Disney’s California Adventure. It’s off the menu now, and I wish they would bring it back.
A couple of my favorites are:
1. The Smoked Tomato Bisque from Chef Mickey’s. This soup was so good we had another bowl after we ate dessert.
2. The Chicken Noodle Soup from 50’s Prime Time. I remember this soup as so comforting and the perfect way to start a meal.
There are so many more great soups I want to try since we haven’t been to The World in 3+ years.
We are planning on going back December 2014. It can’t come soon enough. We are down to 422 agonizingly long days…

I haven’t had it in a while, but I use to love the vegetarian chili at the Harbor House, and I miss the corn chowder at the old (pre-renovation) Tusker House.
Hands down, the best soup I ever had at WDW was the lobster bisque at the Yachtsman Steakhouse last week.
A couple more … the Sopa Azteca at San Angel Inn and the Harira Soup at Marrakesh. Give these two a try!
Carrot Ginger Soup at BOMA in the Animal Kingdom Lodge……AWESOME!!! Not to mention there are alot of delicious menu items @ the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Disney Cast is just as WONDERFUL there!!
Finally someone mentioned the Sopa Azteca at the San Angel Inn!! Avacados, cheese crunchy tortilla strips – YUM!
My husband loved the soups at Boma so much that he said he would pay to eat there and just do soup! I eat mostly veg, so I enjoyed the soups there too, as well as the mentioned tomato basil soup, which also appears at our resort food court from time to time. Well-flavored and filling.

Sorry to tell you, i have tried all of them and the BEST OF ALL THE SOUPS IS AT THE Yatch club hotel in the YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE, the Lobster Bisque. It’s a must!!! For every trip
The Curry Vegetarian Soup at the Wave (Contemporary Hotel) is really yummy . . . and I’m not even a vegetarian! I need that recipe for when it cools down here in Southern California!

My favorite soups are the butternut squash soup at Boma and the French onion and potato-leek soups at Be Our Guest.
We absolutely love the tempura shrimp udon soup at Katsura Grill (formerly Yakitori House) in the Japan pavilion at Epcot. It’s a must eat for us each trip. When our girls were little, they’d give my husband and me their shrimp (double bonus!). The broth is clear with a few scallions and tons of thick udon noodles – perfect for anyone who loves a good noodle soup. Great on a cool day, but we’ll eat it anytime.
Can you get soup to go at the sit down restaurants if you weren’t able to score a reservation? Some of those sound amazing! We make the Le Collier beer cheese soup often in the winter.
Christine, generally, no. But if you inquire at the check-in desk, the cast member may make it happen for you.
I know this is an old post, but I’m looking for a recipe for my daughter. She went crazy for the vegetable soup from the buffet at Minnie’s Hollywood and Vine buffet at HS.
I emailed WDW after our trip asking for the recipe but never got a reply.
Any chance someone knows the magic ingredient? I’ve since tried several different recipes and even made up my own but my daughter said it’s not the same!
