We’ve written before about dining with your adventurous child in Disney World — there’s lot of options out there for kids who’d rather have sushi than spaghetti!
But there’s even more great news from the Disney Parks Blog! For those of you who have kids who like to break out of the burger-pizza-fries mold once in a while, check out these new additions to Magic Kingdom table-service kids’ menus launching February 15th.
You’ll find a bbq chicken pizza/flatbread with pineapple (for your spice lovers!), or an oven-roasted turkey meal with mashed potatoes, veggies, and fruit at Liberty Tree Tavern. Tony’s Town Square will offer a “steak skewer spiedini” (basically a kebab) with roasted sweet potato fries and fresh fruit; and a multi-grain, grilled cheese sandwich cut into “dipping” strips with tomato sauce for dipping.
Cinderella’s Royal Table will start serving chicken pot pie with biscuit topping for the kiddos, or maybe they’d prefer a chicken drumette with rice and broccolini, or grilled beef skewers with mashed potatoes and corn!
And the Plaza Restaurant will offer grilled chicken slices with cous cous and a fresh fruit skewer.
So which one will your little mouseketeer want to sample first?? Let us know in the comments below! Also, check out our Disney Food Blog Guide to Walt Disney World Dining e-Book, where we include a whole chapter on dining with the kids — including several counter- and table-service options for your adventurous eater!
My daughter LOVES cous cous!! We’ll have to give that one a try.
These all sound great! I was just thinking the other day that I needed to start planning where we can eat on our upcoming trip that would have some different options available for our 4-year-old.
I think those things all look nice and a vast inprovement on a burger and fries but none look particularly adventurous. A grilled cheese sandwich isn’t adventurous and nor is grilled chicken or pineapple on a pizza or a sweet potato fry…but they are all healthier options than the standard at least.
My daughter would choose the chicken pot pie because she likes that and eats it regularly.
I am so glad to see some new options for the kids! My children aren’t the type that want chicken nuggets, pizza and burgers every meal so we usually just went to the buffet restaurants so that they’d have more to pick from. This is definitely a nice change!
I’m an adult and want some of those dishes!
I really applaud Disney for the variety they bring to their kids’ menus. It would be so easy for them to fall back on the typical kids’ meal stand-bys, but they bring a lot of different options for kids of different ages and preferences.
My toddler adores sweet potato fries, so those are a sure-fire hit. The chicken, fruit and cous-cous would be right up his alley too.
i agree with Hillarie… but i think my daughter (7years old) would like to try the pizza with pineapple…
This is very cool. Goodness only knows whether Barnaby is going to be a fussy eater or not (he’s accepting everything I feed him… For now!), and we certainly don’t try to be healthy while at WDW, but I’d like to steer clear of chicken strips for as long as possible!
I want that pizza.
