Strolling though Downtown Disney on Easter afternoon I noticed something that was not there just a week before: a new “Gelato Pop” stand! I had just eaten a giant brunch at Steakhouse 55, so a taste test was not an option; but I did get the “scoop” on this fun new treat stop.
Thank goodness for a warm Spring Break in So Cal, because after being open for a mere three days, the Gelato Popsicle stand seems to be a hit. The Cast Member I spoke with said that they were doing pretty well on their first three days and they hope to become a permanent fixture in the Downtown Disney district.
The Gelato Pop stand offers 9 different types of Gelato popsicles (pre-made offsite):
Birthday Cake:
Cookies ‘n’ Cream:
Coffee Biscotto:
Cherry:
Chocolate:
Mixed Berry:
Pistachio:
Strawberry:
Vanilla Bean:
At $5.00 each, they are a bit pricy, BUT if they taste as good as they look, it seems like it just might be worth it. After all you can’t really get an ice cream cone for under $5.00 in Downtown Disney anyhow. I’ll be sure to get back to you with “real” photos and taste test results soon!
In addition to the gelato pops, the cart also serves a pre-made Vanilla Gelato Cookie Sandwich for $5.00 and Frozen Bananas for $4.50. When I saw the frozen bananas, I thought it was a great idea to serve them sliced as shown in the photo, but alas when I asked if that was how they came I was told, “Nope, that’s just to make them look appetizing.” HAHA! In fact, they are just regular ol’ chocolate covered frozen bananas on a stick.
The Gelato Popsicle stand also serves a variety of drinks that includes, water, juices, sodas, energy drinks, and Frappuccinos.
I’m really looking forward to trying a Gelato Pop. First up for me will definitely be “Birthday Cake” with “Vanilla Bean” & “Cookies n’ Cream” tied for a close second!
How about you? Would you pass up a Mickey Bar for a Gelato Pop? Gasp!

Those look good. I’d try the cherry one.

@Attalina – : ) But YOU have carrot cake cookies at WDW! (that’s always my go to reply when we have something exclusive here in CA!)
@JoAnn – The cherry one does look delish!

I SO want one (or two…or three…or… you get the picture) of these! I REALLY hope they make their way to WDW!

I can’t believe I’ve never seen that on a stick before.

I’d want to try the Birthday Cake, Cookies n’ Cream, and Pistachio. It sucks they don’t offer them at WDW! Maybe this should be added to the Italy pavilion in Epcot?
Heather Sievers says
@Wendy – Me too! Can’t wait to try them!
@Galloping Gourmand – I know! Me either! I love gelato!
@Kat – That’s the first on my “list” too! Having them in the Italy Pavilion would be awesome!
Melissa says
I can’t remember the last time I wanted to try something SO MUCH.
