Great news for those visiting the 2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival with a special diet!
As part of the World Showcase Marketplaces serving tapas-sized portions of International foods, the Festival is introducing a completely vegan kiosk this year! We’re hoping that means that special diets will be catered to more than ever before at this year’s event.
Vegan Marketplace at Epcot Food and Wine Festival
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival this year will introduce the first ever vegan-only “TERRA” marketplace, which will include dishes like this Trickân Chickân Curry with Basmati Rice Curry with Basmati Rice.
Stay tuned for more details about this exciting development. Here’s hoping nothing changes!

I’m no vegan, Texas girl here and I looove my meat; I am very excited to hear that we are already seeing some of the F&W booths!
Jennie says
This is exciting news — but I wish it was a mixture of vegetarian and vegan, as I still love cheese and don’t mind eating local, organic eggs. Oh well — good to see them catering to all diets, not just meaty ones. 🙂
Carolyn says
I eat vegan a lot, so this is great news. I wish they weren’t doing fake chicken though, and they were doing something more natural instead, and focusing on veggies or whole grains or something, and not processed “meat.” But this is a great addition!
Ellen D. says
I agree with Carolyn. With so many great bean- and grain-based dishes in so many cuisines, it’s a shame to see “fake meat.” Nonetheless, I’m glad to see that the option is available this year.
AJ says
Melanie — Me, too!! I think there will be more info very soon!
Jennie — Agreed. And there are plenty of Vegetarian dishes on the menus most of the time. Just look for the little green “v”s on the menus!
Carolyn and Ellen D. — I’m guessing that many of the other dishes at that kiosk will be veggie-focused! Fingers crossed!
Anderson says
While I’m not vegan, I am vegetarian a lot of the time (I’ll make exceptions for Napa Rose and a turkey leg), and I love that they have a fake meat option. Vegetarian meals are available everywhere but not vegan meals, and it is so hard to get something besides tofu as a protein, so I am very very glad to see this.

OH my goodness, I am so stoked about this! Hehe, maybe my endless nagging letters requesting more vegetarian food at Food & Wine have paid off. This is such great news for us vegetarians & vegans. Way to go, Disney! I am so happy!!
Jasmine Becket-Griffith says
@Jennie – don’t worry – the Food & Wine Festival has no shortage of cheese plates, and often even complete cheese kiosks too, hehe =)
Bronwen S. says
Awesome!! My husband and I are vegan and we go to F&W every year. There are lots of vegetarian things to try, but not a single vegan one so I am pleased as punch that there is no dairy, cheese or eggs!! (You lovers of farm products will have no shortage) To date we have been able to indulge in drink ONLY!!! Now we’ll be able to have a little food to wash it all down and believe me, we will try everything!!!
Jean says
I guess the letters I wrote to Disney paid off. So glad to hear this. We go lots every year (FL passholders) and bring our own vegan food then just have the wine or other drinks. Thanks Disney!! 🙂
Jasmine Becket-Griffith says
Good point too – being able to eat more of the actual FOOD at F&W will mean that I can try more of the WINE & other drinks without getting too silly!
Maggie says
I am so excited to see this! While not vegan, my family did switch to a low-meat diet a few years ago so it is awesome to have more meatless choices. Disney World has been growing more vegetarian friendly the past few years, but visiting with my vegetarian sister last year I found out that they have a lot further to go. This really shows they are giving a lot of thought to doing just that.
Dave says
This is great news. Did you know that the veggie burger that Disneyworld provides is a Gardenburger variety that is both vegan, low fat, and organic? I checked it out and it is not commercially available, but is a step above the same vegan Gardenburger sold in the grocery store, which is not organic. So, for a change we can actually get a better veggie burger at Disney than we can get at the store.
Niki says
Yay! I’m so excited to see this! I had written Disney as well after last year-only thing vegan were Crasins from the cranberry bog display! I plan to try everything at the booth! 🙂
Sass says
Nice!
Karen says
My husband and I are planning to go to the F&W in Oct. I heard that you can use your “snack credits” to purchase the samples, any info out there that you can give us. Thanks
AJ says
Karen — For the past three years, you’ve been able to use your snack credits to purchase the items at the World Showcase booths! 🙂 We have no reason to think that won’t be the case this year!
Jayce says
Thanks for the info. Would also prefer grains, beans and veggies as opposed to substitutes that mimic meat flavor and texture. Glad to see progress. Maybe they’re listening. Some of us are ovo-lacto. Have especially appreciated the “V” designation.
Sarah W says
I only eat kosher food and rarely, if ever, find kosher food to eat at Disney (except for some of the snack foods). Drinks are all that I can have too, Bronwen. This will be the first year that I will be at Disney at this time of the year, so these vegan options are so exciting for me.
Does anyone know where the vegan booth will be situated?
Mary P says
I am super excited first time I am going on vacation since becoming vegan was alittle nervous about going to disney being a vegan but not no more. I will have food to eat there!! This was not planned either, had trip planned ticket bought and to my surpise thank you disney!!!
Janire says
This totally rocks!!! I’ve been a vegan for over 15 years and this just made my day. Vegan/non animal flesh or animal fluid food options are rarely offered everywhere. Places mostly offer vegetarians options. Of course, Disney had to be the first, since they still accommodate a vegan diet better than any other themed park in Orlando. I live in the Orlando area and I’m an annual pass holder, so I’m always there. It’s great to see more food being offered to us. Thanks Disney! 🙂
