After devouring countless calories and seeking out the best eats in Walt Disney World, we gathered some of our best tips in our four comprehensive Guides to Disney World Dining.
We absolutely love your emails, tweets, and facebook notes telling us how much the guides have helped as you plan your Disney vacations, and we wanted to share your stories! So we asked to hear from YOU once again about how you use the guides in our “How I Use My DFB Guide” Contest.
A huge thanks to everyone who sent in their stories! We’re super excited to announce our contest finalists and the winner. We loved these responses so much that we decided to give ALL 13 of our finalists their choice of a free DFB Disney Dining Guidebook! And the winners will get a little extra something to remind them of their past and future Disney adventures! 🙂
How Do YOU Use Your DFB Guide? Finalists
Mickey Ice Cream Bar
We loved the story of this little princess enjoying one of her first (of many, I hope!) Mickey Premium Bars!
Attached is a photo of our daughter enjoying one of her favorite snacks at Disney – we used the DFB guides to select the best frozen treat for her. You can see she loved it. -Dustin
Kaki Gori
This story of a hot day, a cool treat, and a couple of smart cookies easily made our finalist list!
When my Fiance and I took our first trip to Disney World together last year, it was SWELTERING! While meandering the World Showcase and sweating like a beast, I remembered reading about something in the DFB Dining Guide that would eventually be our savior: Kaki Gori! I would have never known about it without you!
Attached is a pic of us enjoying this delicious icy treat. Thanks, DFB for saving us from the heat, and for turning my tongue a lovely shade of red. 😉 -Sandy
Dole Whip
Thanks to Sam for sending in this awesome story of the beginning of what I know will be a “beautiful friendship!”
I have been going to Disney World my whole life and had never heard of the Dole Whip before the Disney Food Blog Guide. I tried one for the first time and it was love at first bite! — Sam
Snacks
We loved Danica’s dedication to preparing for her upcoming Disney trip!
I have only been to Walt Disney World once, so for my 2nd trip this September I wanted to make sure I don’t miss out on any snacks. I purchased the DFB guide to Epcot Snacks, Magic Kingdom Snacks, and Walt Disney World Dining.
These guides have helped me plan what I want to eat and how much to budget. The pictures are fantastic. I can’t wait to try everything on my list. Thank you so much for making such informational guides! -Danica
Anniversary at 50’s Prime Time Cafe
Shawn shared an awesome experience in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This shows how important themeing and great cast members are when it comes to having a great celebration!
Attached is the picture of our lunch on our 5th Wedding Anniversary. We went to 50’s Prime Time Diner and it did not disappoint. Everyone was so into the themeing; and the friend chicken and meatloaf were to die for. The peanut butter and jelly shake was unreal. And they brought out cake for us to feed to each other like we did at our reception. I can’t wait to go back on this anniversary and try again. -Shawn
Birthday
I never met a birthday cake I didn’t like, but this little guy could definitely give me some pointers on the “frosting grab!”
This was our trip to Disney World last September for my baby boy’s one year Birthday. Disney Food Blog was so helpful on leading us to the right restaurant where we could enjoy the food, Characters and special made Birthday Cake. Crystal Palace was an awesome Birthday experience. -Kim
I know Emma and co. are going to have a blast on their Disney trip…and I can’t wait to read all about it on her blog!
I am using the Disney Dining Plan for the first time this year so my DFB guide has helped in making a lot of decisions before booking my ADRs! -Emma
Sanaa
Thanks to Amanda for sharing this magical memory with us from one of my favorite restaurants! I’m so thrilled you had a wonderful meal!
My husband and I had a super magical moment at Sanaa, thanks to the DFB Guide! I would have never known to ask for a window seat at this amazing restaurant! Thanks to the suggestion in the DFB Guide, we were able to wait a few extra minutes and snag that magical window seat! -Amanda
Kouzzina
Thanks to Rachael for sharing great feedback about a fun meal! (And that picture of dessert is always going to tip the scales for me!)
We love DFB! We use it every year when we make our ADR’s! This past September, we went with a recommendation of DFB for Kouzzina! We had an amazing meal and are looking forward to going back this September! -Rachael
Christmas Eve Cookies
I think it’s awesome that Kathleen and her family continued their family traditions while visiting Disney for the holidays!
On our last trip to Disney, Christmas 2011, we used your site for A LOT of great tips, but one I can remember off the top of my head was: Reading about Goofy’s Candy Co. in Downtown Disney and planning a visit on Christmas Eve to create our own treats and grab some special cookies to leave out for Santa Claus! Thank you DFB (Santa sure loved those cookies, especially the giant snickerdoodle!). -Kathleen
Candy Crawl
This Moose Ear pic was one of my favorites, Melissa!! I’m so glad you and Mom had a blast!
For my mother’s birthday last year (August 2011), we decided to take a trip “around the world”. We’d already done the whole drinking around the world thing in EPCOT, so I was ecstatic when I found the candy around the world post! We got authentic candy from each country with the exception of China and Germany (we couldn’t find anything in China and we just HAD to get some caramel fudge in Germany). -Melissa
Epcot Snacks
An awesome recommendation here from Michelle and her family for one of our DFB top tips — that Ham and Cheese Croissant is a hidden gem!
The Fam just got back from a great trip to WDW, and thanks to the DFB Mini-Guide to Epcot Snacks, we were able to try several new things we had never even knew existed (like the Caramel Corn at Karamell-Küche in Germany). But here is a photo of my son, Hunter, enjoying our favorite snack in all of Epcot, the Ham and Cheese Croissant from Boulangerie Patisserie. I think our family of four ate a total of 10 of them during our trip – we love them that much! -Michelle
How Do YOU Use Your DFB Guide? WINNER
And the winners are…Lucy and Ash! They had us cracking up with this fun story of a man and his fudge!
Fudge
We love the eBooks and are currently using the Guide to WDW Dining to plan our first trip on the DDP – Woooo!
In December, we used the snack guide for the Magic Kingdom to sniff out some sweet treats that we hadn’t tried before. My Husband, Ash, had his heart set on some fudge from the Main St. Confectionery so in we went. I got a cookie and he got his fudge.
We went and sat outside, and as he took his out of the bag he held up a plastic knife in what I can only describe as a look of disgust! He asked me why that was there, and my answer was ‘I presume they don’t expect you to eat it all in one go.’
This rationale would have never entered his mind with the sweet tooth that he has. Suffice to say the knife was promptly thrown away and the fudge consumed! -Lucy and Ash
