While hanging out in Disney’s Hollywood Studios last week, we were super psyched to see a brand new Disney cupcake that has debuted for the Summer in the park — the Strawberry and Cream Cupcake!
We first stumbled upon it while in line for lunch at Rosie’s All-American Cafe and there’s no way we could pass it up.
The CM taking my order let us know that the brand new cupcake had made its appearance only the day before, and that it was delish. As usual at the Studios, the seasonal offering is available in other spots as well.
I spied it at Backlot Express, and it was also available alongside other famous Hollywood Studios cupcakes like the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake and the Butterfinger Cupcake at Starring Rolls.
Of course, it was a must-buy! Who doesn’t love a good helping of strawberry to kick off summer? But was this all a bunch of pink fluff, or did the berry flavor carry through?
Turns out, this was more than just a pretty face.
Moist, strawberry cake gives way to a thick, creamy crown of delightful strawberry buttercream frosting. And it’s not just tinted pink — it really is full of berry flavor!
There weren’t any surprises tucked inside, sadly. But the whole strawberry garnish was a great, fresh touch.
Overall – light, flavorful cake with that rich, whipped lard-y frosting that I absolutely love. There is a chocolate drizzle garnish too, but I’m afraid that it’s completely lost in all the berry flavor. No problem though. You don’t really miss it.
If you are a strawberry fan, you are going to adore this giant pink cupcake!

Looks SO yum !! As a bigger fan of fruity flavours over chocolatey ones (except for my beloved peanut butter chocolate combo) this cupcake has my name all over it ! Too bad I wont be there until November. Hahaha

Oh, I wish they didn’t just have the yummy strawberry cupcake treats in the summer. I always miss them when I go in the Autumn! 🙁 It looks wonderful!

Looks yummy but I’m sure it will be gone by the time I go in the fall. Do you think they are getting away from cutting a core out of the cupcake so they can put a filling inside? What I love most about Disney cupcakes is that you can get a good amount of cake with the frosting and not just a three inch pile of frosting on top. Is it my imagination or are most of the “new” cupcakes not filled?

Why do they ruin it with chocolate drizzle??? I love strawberry but hate chocolate!

$5 for a cupcake!! It appears to be more frosting than cake. I don’t think so. 🙁

I know the strawberry cupcake won’t be there when we go back in December, but we were surprised to find the Gingerbread cupcake offered as a CS dessert at Backlot Express last year. No settling for a prepackaged cake! My son had never eaten gingerbread (very selective eater) and he devoured it down to the last crumb. So whatever time of year you go, especially if you are using the DP for a CS meal at the Studios, look to see if they are offering a special cupcake. Getting that huge cupcake for a CS dessert was just amazing.

Paul, I agree that $5 does seem outrageous for one cupcake, but it isn’t just overpriced because it’s Disney. I live in a big city area and cupcakes have been a big deal here, not just at bakeries, but they even have special kiosks in malls and businesses that are all cupcakes. They all run from $4-$5 a piece. It seems that that is the going price for these fancy ‘gourmet’ type little cakes. Some areas even have cupcake vending machines and they cost the same in them, also. It’s the big craze right now and people are buying them by the bags full! So, as long as the people pay it, I guess the price will certainly stay at that high level.

We just got them yesterday and they were absolutely delicious! It tasted like real strawberries were in the icing. The cake was dense, moist and had great flavor.

Why did I forget to get this earlier this month!? 🙁 I hope it’s still there next time I’m down there

I had this cupcake with my lunch at Backlot Express a couple weeks ago. I was able to use a counter service credit for my lunch and the cupcake was included as the dessert. It is huge and delicious!
