It’s National Ice Cream Month, everyone!!!
And one of our favorite stops for ice cream at Walt Disney World is the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom.
And today, we’ve got another brand new addition to share with you! Especially those of you who love all of those Disney peanut butter treats.
Introducing: the All-American Sundae! This new sundae at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor came to our attention thanks to DFB reader Miranda, and we couldn’t wait to dive in!
Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream, hot fudge, peanut butter drizzle, whipped cream, and a cherry? Yes please! And you can get it for a Disney Dining Plan snack credit!
Note that this isn’t just a limited time treat — this is on the menu for the foreseeable future, so you should have no problem picking one up on your next Disney World visit!
Let’s take a look…
All-American Sundae
The All-American Sundae comes by default with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, but feel free to request any of the flavors available.
We went with the “advertised” version. (Though I have seen peanut butter cup ice cream at the Plaza in the Flavor of the Month slot before, and that would be yum.)
As a peanut butter lover, the hot PB topping was perfect. There was plenty of it on the sundae (though layers would be nice)…and that’s the most important part.
The hot Florida sun and hot fudge helped to slightly melt the ice cream by the time I found a table. 🙂 The flavors were great together, of course.
And while this new sundae might not exactly rival the No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream, the setting and ability to eat it in the shadow of Cinderella Castle might just give it an edge in the race.

Just got this with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream-the special flavor being offered right now- and it was awesome!!!

After reading about the No Way Jose on this blog, this is now my kids’ favorite sundae to have at home. (We’ve never made it over to Beaches & Cream — gasp!) So for those of you in the know, how is the All-American different than the No Way Jose? Size? Layering? We won’t be back to WDW until the fall and we want to be getting the home version right. 😉
Rune says
Ohhh that looks good! That ‘must try’ list of ours is getting awfully long for September but it’s all in the name of research right? =) Can’t wait to see what flavour is on special then too.
Erica says
Can you get this at The Plaza Restaurant too? I’m dying for a choc-pb sundae somewhere during our upcoming trip and we’ll be having lunch there.
Raelynn says
Off topic, but has the ice cream cookie sandwich always been a snack credit? I didn’t think is was when we were there back in December. That has to in the top ten uses of snack credit for sure.
AJ says
Raelynn — Yes! The ice cream sandwich has *almost* always been a snack credit. However, they JUST started serving it at the ice cream parlor about a year ago. Up until then, it was only available at the Main St. Bakery and Sleepy Hollow in the MK. (It is a snack credit currently at all locations throughout the parks.)
Galloping Gourmand says
Sue – its the size. At Beaches the No Way José has an extra scoop or two and costs 3.50 more.

This looks AMAZING! I love peanut butter in my ice cream. I am looking forward to trying this in a few short months!

Oh My Gosh … Peanut Butter and ice cream, I am in heaven ! And now I dont need to leave MK to get it !!

I’m positive this is the sundae I had back in September 2012. In fact, I had it a few times over the week at the Plaza. It was FABULOUS!
Looks like the price is the same too, which is a miracle 🙂

Well, this wonderful post has made me realize something; in all of my many trips to WDW, I’ve never had anything from the Plaza Ice cream Parlor!!!!!!! How did this travesty happen? It’s certainly going to be corrected on my next trip, that’s for sure. 🙂 This PB sundae looks so yummy, but I have a feeling that when I get there I won’t be able too easily to make a decision over all of the wonderful things they have (although right now, I think the PB fudge sundae has the edge). Thanks for this great news.

I think everything is made better with peanut butter sauce!

That looks good. I’m having lunch at The Plaza restaurant in November. I wonder if I can order that for my dessert.
Dee says
I’m not the biggest ice cream person, but my husband would absolutely love that. He’s a huge fan of peanut butter on ice cream.

I love all disney ice cream except for the fact that a lot of the sundaes don’t come with caramel… I am not a hot fudge person… and the cookie sandwich was 100% better on sugar cookies, the chocolate chip cookie just isn’t the same…
