The Candy Palace is always one of my favorite stops when visiting Main Street USA at Disneyland.

On a recent walk through, I noticed an exciting new addition to the check out counter; Candy Sticks!
I immediately gravitated toward them because they reminded me of a very special holiday treat. Yep, Disneyland’s famous handmade candy canes. Same width, same patterns, and same packaging, but less than 1/2 the price!

Candy Sticks
New for Summer, the candy sticks are made in the Candy Palace kitchen using the same process as the Disneyland candy canes. Each stick is generous in size, basically one of the giant candy canes minus the hook!
They are $4.99 each, and come in three flavors: orange, lemon lime, and cinnamon. Unfortunately, because they are handmade, you may not use your annual pass for a discount on these puppies. There is however no limit on how many you can buy.

Of course I had to buy one of each flavor and take them home for experimental research! When I got them out of their packages, I noticed that they had the same light and airy feel to them as the holiday Candy Canes.

Because they are handmade, you will notice that the size and shape of the sticks are not uniform, I love this about them. It is totally obvious that they are handmade.
See the uneven tips? You can almost see where they were cut with the candy scissors when they were still warm. Love it!
I tried the Cinnamon Candy Stick first. It reminded me of the cinnamon toothpicks I used to get for, like, 10 cents when I was a kid. Such a nostalgic flavor and smell. This was by far my favorite flavor of the three.

The Orange Stick was my second favorite candy stick. It tastes a little like a creamsicle.
It had a very tasty orange flavor, not artificial tasting at all.

Last up was the Lemon-Lime Candy Stick. My least favorite of the three, but not bad by any means.
I am not a huge lemon-lime fan when it comes to hard candies, because I have yet to find something that doesn’t taste too artificial. That being said, this does happen to be on the better end of the lemon-lime flavored items I’ve tried!

Overall
Overall, I think the Candy Sticks are a great addition to the Candy Palace. I can’t wait to catch them making them in the candy kitchen; I’d love to try one fresh off the line. They are light, airy and full of flavor — a very fun treat that sort of takes you back in time, perfect for snacking on while you watch a parade on Main Street USA.
As of now, I am not sure if there is a regular schedule for candy stick making. I also do not know if they are being made over at Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure. The cast member on duty told me that they were a “trial” item. I, however, am hoping that they “stick” around and maybe expand the flavor palate. 😉

@Amanda – That would be awesome! I wish you guys had homemade candy canes at Christmas time too. It’s such a fun experience!
Ooooh, I would love to get some if they had them at WDW. I’d get an orange and a lemon-lime. Then I’d buy a fresh lemon and a fresh orange, cut a little opening in the top of each and enjoy sucking the fresh fruit juice up through the candy stick. Would that be a great summer treat or what? 🙂 Yummy.
