One place that I never tire of is Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion.
This charming spot, located to the left as you make your way back through the pavilion, is home to wonderful surprises. You all know my passionate love for the not-too-sweet, just-perfect schoolbread!
But it’s just the beginning of the awesome you’ll find in this tiny bakery. With rice cream, the traditional lefse (OK, I don’t think it’s that awesome, but a lot of you do!), and jam-filled waffles, there’s no shortage of fabulous desserts.
And wait! We can’t forget the crazy cute new Viking mousse, or the Aquavit shots (woah Nellie!)!
And today, we’re returning to Kringla to check out another gorgeous little pastry…
Berry Cream Puff Pastry at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe
The first thing you need to know about this one is that it’s enormous. Well, at least as far as cream puffs are normally concerned. Seriously. It’s as big as the schoolbread, just to give you a comparison.
A traditional cream puff, made of pate a choux, creates a tender shell for a generous helping of REAL, slightly sweetened whipped cream. The cream filling is studded with fresh berries, and the top is replaced and dusted with powdered sugar. It’s a simple, classic dessert, and a welcome respite from flashier sweets.
But how did it taste? OK, so here’s a good method to gauge whether or not I loved something I ate. Since I eat sooooo much when I’m at Disney World, I rarely am able to actually finish anything. But this? I just sat there at Kringla Bakeri and kept dipping my spoon into that whipped cream…savoring every single bite as I people-watched on the World Showcase promenade. It was one of my favorite recent Disney memories. Pretty fantastic.
The berries and whipped cream just seemed so…indulgent. Even in their simplicity. But that’s how it is when you have perfect ingredients. You don’t really need to fuss over them.
Sigh.
Have you tried the berry cream puff at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe? Let us know your thoughts on it below!

I love Kringla! But I am sad – is it true that my beloved Cloudberry Horn has been replaced by something called a Troll Horn?
AJ says
SharonCW — Hmm…I haven’t heard about it, but I’ll check it out! Perhaps the Troll Horn is just another name for the original horn? We’ll research!

I love the NOrwegian Bakery; I try to eat here on every trip. The sammies are very good and different from the usual and their desserts are delightful. I’ve never tried this particular one, but it’s hard to get to all of them because their variety is large and they all look so delicious!

Yum! It’s been too long since I’ve been there. A definate must stop in August when we go. We’ll be there in 38 days, but who’s counting?

The “new” Troll Horn is indeed the Cloudberry Horn. They just renamed it. I enjoyed one on 7/9 just before Illuminations! Just an FYI my children had the Worms in Dirt and both agreed it was the worst chocolate pudding ever, very watery.

mmm Kringla is definitely a stop on our next trip. The hard part is going to be choosing just one or 2 items!
Sue says
My girls will love this! Wish I could have one right now.

I wish I was eating this right now. You make it sound positively dreamy!

I love School Bread but also am not all that fond of lefse. I do really, really enjoy the Veiled Maiden (whipped cream and homemade applesauce) which is another of those “good ingredients don’t need fancy” desserts.

That just took the top spot on my Epcot snack list for this December!
SharonCW says
@Kelly – THANK YOU! I also love a cloudberry horn while waiting for Illuminations to begin. I enjoy it with a latte, it is the perfect snack!!

The Cream Puff and School Bread are an absolute must!! Just wish you could find the cream puff’s recipe on here like you can the school bread.

Does anyone have a recipe for this cream puff? My daughter is wanting one so badly, she dreamed there was one in the fridge then woke up so sad!
