Disney Food Blog author Wendy returns with a review from the newly-updated Fountain View Cafe — the newest Starbucks location in Epcot’s Future World.
Last week I popped over to Epcot to do a first look at the brand new Starbucks spot in Epcot!
This ice cream shop turned coffee stop continues to feature futuristic decor befitting Future World, but now the menu has changed significantly!
Today, we’re taking an up-close look at two snacks — the Guava Pocket and the Peanut Butter Brownie from this new Starbucks location!
Atmosphere
Yup! Fountain View is now your Starbucks stop at Epcot!
So if a Venti Dark Roast and Cake Pops are part of your weekly (or daily!) dining, you don’t have to abandon those treats during your vacation.
You can stroll in to grab your favorites and enjoy the outside view…
Just don’t forget to take a closer look at the inside view first… check out the completely cool and unique “Bubble Wall” behind the ordering counter (yep, that’s its name)!
But that’s not all that’s changed about the venue! Let’s take a look at a couple of new edibles added to the list… .
Eats
First, you may be interested in learning about a Disney-specific gem. If so, then allow me to introduce you to the Guava Pocket.
Not only is the Guava Pocket Disney-specific, it is also unique to Fountain View. You won’t find this treasure at the Main Street Bakery or anywhere else in Disney World at the moment.
The Guava Pocket turned out to be apleasant little surprise! The flaky pastry crust is buttery and delicious, and the saltiness of the butter is balanced out with a dusting of powdered sugar. The bright, fruity guava puree center is packed with flavor, and also delivers a bit of tartness to round out the full range of tastes.
If you’re looking for something to tide you over until your next meal, don’t expect this to fill you up. While its lightness is part of what makes it enjoyable, this choice is best suited as a small, sweet indulgence to go along with your morning (or afternoon) caffeine fix.
We also sampled the Peanut Butter Brownie ($2.39 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit) on our stop. Oh, my… peanut butter fans, this is a MUST for you!
Absolutely packed with peanut butter, this brownie also offers a little crunch thanks to all the walnuts and peanuts in the mix. Again, a few dashes of powdered sugar on the top provide a touch of sweetness… and the sprinkling of chocolate chips doesn’t hurt, either ;).
The picture above doesn’t show the full portion size (you can see it a bit better in the photo of the bakery case). This brownie had already been split for sharing. You may not want to share yours. I sure wouldn’t judge you ;).
I was so excited to try these treats, can you guess what I forgot to grab?
Coffee.
Ah, well! There’s always next time!
Which treat will you try on your first (or NEXT) visit to the NEW Fountain View Cafe? Will this be one of your regular coffee stops? Let us know in the comments below!

I want both of those now for breakfast! It’s almost like you knew what I’d grab from the case and grabbed em for me. Now if we could just figure that teleportation thing out….
Sandy says
Mmm peanut butter brownie? Must. Have. It!
Paul says
Is there anywhere close where we can get ice cream now?
Jenny S says
Both look yummy.
🙂

Great tip on the Guava pockets. I like knowing what is unique to a park. They look good too.
I’m surprised that all those Starbucks drinks count as a snack on the meal plan. I usually use my snack credits on things like the Guava pockets, things you can’t get anywhere else that are unique to WDW, but being able to get a large Mocha as a snack is really going to challenge that.

What!! There is somewhere to enjoy the outside view? Please elaborate. I was thinkng you had to wander around with a cookie in one hand, coffee in the other and had to ask strangers to help you with your napkins.
Lynne says
Okay, so are these DISNEY made treats or Starbucks pre-frozen offerings? Good luck to a family of four trying to enjoy and eat a pastry, juggle their coffees/drinks, and dodge crowds. Now there’s fun. Where IS the closest table and a chair??
Cheryl D says
The first time I came to WDW in 1993, I think it was called the Fountain View Bakery. What goes around, comes around.
Becca says
I’m not a fan of good coffee so I might skip this, but omg! I was just trying to persuade my husband that we need that bubble tile in our bathroom after I found it on Pinterest! Just another little bit of Disney at home 🙂
Sandra says
We get guava pockets at the Hispanic bakeries near us–and you can’t eat just one. The peanut butter brownie looks promising though. I’m not a fan of SB in general and am disappointed that this seems to look like every other SB, including the one up the street from me as I write this. I know that the Nescafe was dreadful, and that many finds SB coffee and improvement. But it is one thing to serve the coffee and another to just plop a regular store down in Epcot. Ditch the SB poundcake and add some WDW cinnamon buns, and maybe then we’ll talk. That is, if I can find a place to take a load off.
Essie says
Oooh, that brownie looks wonderful…..
Lucy says
And I already know where I’ll be having breakfast each time I visit EPCOT!

Actually, these Guava pockets are NOT a Disney original and whomever claims that is absolutely blasphemous. These are staple in the Cuban community and have been for over 100 years so I find it ridiculous that someone is making this claim. I understand this may be Disney’s spin on one, but it is definitely NOT their creation. You can find these delectable pastelitos de guayaba (guava pastries) at any local Cuban, Puerto Rican or any bakery owned by a Hispanic. So if you really want to try one (an authentic one) visit your local Hispanic owned bakery: it won’t cost you more than $1.00 and I promise you will be in heaven.

A small update on the tables: I was able to visit briefly again, and six tables have been added for outside viewing :), three on each side. Alas, there are no chairs — they are higher tables where you can set your drinks/treats, stand and chat.
When I visited on the first day, things were a little different (they did have some tables set up, but they seemed to be specific to some sort of opening day festivity that likely took place that morning), so I just learned about these. Hope that helps a little!

If you don’t like the bitterness of regural SB coffee, try the blonde coffee. It is similiar to dunkin donuts coffee. I’ll be getting a tall blonde in October. I can’t wait!!

E – I could be wrong, but I didn’t take the “Disney-specific” comment in the same way you did. She did not say Disney “original” as you claim, she said “specific”. I took that to mean it is a Disney food item, and not a Starbucks item, just like the many Disney cupcakes (Disney did not invent the cupcake, nor are all of their flavors found exclusively at Disney). I interpreted this to be in reference to the fact that the Starbucks that took over the Main Street Bakery location serves ONLY Starbucks-specific foods (items that can be found at any Starbucks throughout the U.S.), and this one happens to have items that are Disney-specific (foods that CAN’T be found at Starbucks outside the park). Wendy can correct me if I’m the one who’s mistaken.

Hi, E (and Jeff)! Thanks so much for the note. Within the context of my article, I meant that the Guava Pockets were specific to Disney World as opposed to something you could get at a Starbucks outside of Disney, but I can understand how that might be interpreted otherwise, so thanks for giving me the chance to clarify :). My apologies for missing your post last evening!
I can see why they are so popular–I really enjoyed it, and will definitely be on the lookout for them in other places!

I love you E, I was thinking the same thing about the Disney claim to the familiar latin family favorite Guava pockets better known in my family as pastelitos de guayaba. You can get them at Bongo’s in Downtown Disney at the window. Two pastelitos and cafe con leche (coffee with milk )were running around 4 dollars early last year.
Well, thanks for the article Jeff ! keep them coming : )
Emma says
Actually, the pastelitos de guayaba are not even specific to this location, these are served at bongos last I checked. Although I will say, compared to a normal pastelito they look horrible, so maybe this Americanized version is disney specific. Will have to try them when I’m there. They may look like a bad pastelito, but even a bad pastelito is heaven to this displaced Cuban! (No pastelitos here in Seattle)

bebe – I wasn’t the author of the article, I just commented on it. I’m still waiting to see if AJ will publish any of my reviews. I think they’ve gotten better since my first Disney reviews in early summer, and I have a week long trip in December where I’ll try to review as much as possible. Let’s hope AJ finds them good enough for this blog 🙂

I have GOT to try that Guava Pocket! But strangely not attracted to the brownie… we are not as crazy about peanut butter in the UK as you guys are in the USA, so whilst its available to buy, we don’t tend to use it much in baking/sweets/candy etc. However, that bakery case in Fountain View? Take off the glass and I’ll just throw myself on it, mouth open and face down!!
(And I just lost 24 pounds through dieting. Looks like that’ll be short lived when I get to WDW lol)
Jeff says
Christopher J – Laying face down in the bakery case is how I feel about most Disney locations. I wish I could just swim in the buffets/bakery cases. I too lost weight a little over a year ago (35 lbs.) and have come to accept that on most weekend or 4 day trips I’ll be gaining around 10 pounds. On a week long trip? Forget about it, 20 pound minimum. I’ve learned to lose the weight before the trip so that I don’t have that stress to deal with after a nice vacation. It’s all worth it to me, because I love to eat.
Christopher J says
Jeff – I can totally get behind how you feel re: amazingness that is Disney Snacking!! (Notice how I capitalised the word snacking as it should totally be an event)
My partner and I both gained about 11-12 pounds on a fortnight trip with the full dining plan so I didn’t think that was too bad! We ate a LOT of great stuff. But I had to be forcefully removed from Starring Rolls and Kringla more than once!!
SD Renz says
Sorry not a fan of Starbucks. ….I”ll miss the original fountain View ice cream.. I can get Starbucks any where.
Paul in CT says
I’m glad to hear that there are at least six “stand-up” tables outside. I’m sure they are designed so that SB patrons not linger. There’s no relaxing at WDW. 😉
Angelina says
I so very much agree with Christopher J and Jeff. Lose the weight before you go and walk everywhere you can….in between eat whatever you want 🙂
Aaron says
Could someone please tell me if the peanut butter brownie is a disney specific item or is it part of Starbucks’ own menu?
