For this round of “What’s New,” we’re heading to three Disney World parks and five Resorts to check out candy apples, menu changes, comfort foods, and oodles of cold drinks to help you cool down in hot temperatures! Welcome back to “What’s New!”
MAGIC KINGDOM
Character-inspired Treats
Magic Kingdom rang in the summer with the 24-Hour Rock Your Disney Side event. Several treats debuted that day, which were originally intended to be around just for those 24 hours; but a few made the cut to stick around a little longer, including these eye-catching Maleficent Krispy Treats and cake pops found in the Main Street Confectionery and Big Top Treats.
If you followed our coverage that day, you may have seen the Sunshine Tree Terrace’s Orange Bird join the candy apple ranks as well, but just in case you missed it, here he is!
He’s too cute to not show twice 😉 !
And at Main Street Bakery, the Olaf the Snowman Carrot Cake Cupcake remains, alongside a Frozen-themed one as well.
Columbia Harbour House
In Liberty Square, Columbia Harbour House is offering two new dinner-only comfort foods: Seafood Macaroni & Cheese and Chicken Pot Pie. You can read our review here!
The Plaza Restaurant
added a great-sounding choice to their list of entrees: a Beef Brisket Onion Burger.
Tony’s Town Square
At Tony’s Town Square, guests can now choose a Seasonal and Sustainable Fresh Catch Salad. And at lunch, a Meatball Trio has replaced the Meatball Sliders.
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
is serving up a new Cherry Slush topped with Lemon-Lime Fomz.
Read more about it (and the mystery that is “Fomz”) by clicking here!
EPCOT
The Refreshment Cool Post (found in the Africa Outpost as you stroll around World Showcase) is offering a few summer treats: Pineapple and Coconut Frozen Yogurt (served solo or swirled together) and a Mango Rum Smoothie featuring African Starr Rum. Check out our review of the new Frozen Yogurt flavors here!
ANIMAL KINGDOM
A couple of really fun new adult beverages have arrived in Animal Kingdom!
Drinkwallah
Head over to Asia’s Drinkwallah for a Coconut-Lychee Lemonade with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum. We’ll have a review on the blog soon!
Corn-Ivores
Or if you’ve really got to tame your sweet tooth, try the Carnival Cocktail made with Cotton Candy and Bacardi Black Razz Rum at Corn-Ivores Popcorn Cart found in Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama. See our review here!
You didn’t think we’d be able to resist these, did you 😉 ? Keep an eye out for upcoming reviews!
Trilo-Bites
Now, I’m not makin’ any promises, but on a very recent stop by Trilo-Bites, that elusive Pulled Buffalo Chicken Waffle Sandwich was back.
This is only brought out on peak crowd days at Animal Kingdom, so you may have an easier chance of catching it during these busy summer months!
DOWNTOWN DISNEY
Splitsville Luxury Lanes
Starting on the West Side, Splitsville Luxury Lanes has added a Grilled Avocado appetizer, while Tuna Maki replaces “Beauty and the Beast” in the Sushi selections. A Baja Chicken and French Dip join the sandwich options.
Wolfgang Puck Express
Wolfgang Puck Express on the West Side
has added a Barbeque Chicken Pizza along with a Meatloaf Sandwich.
Disney Food Trucks
The Superstar Catering Food Truck featuring flavors from Hollywood Studios debuted an all-new menu.
Replacing the former meatball-based menu are a Pot Roast Sandwich and Margarita Flatbread (yep, spelled that way on the menu), while a Turkey Meatball Sub continues to represent the meatball fare.
And it’s not the only Disney Food Truck switching things up… Fantasy Fare is now serving up Sticky Chicken and Waffles!
The Marketplace
Over at the Marketplace, Cap ‘N Jack’s Margarita Bar was officially closed.
However, it looks like more margarita goodness is on the way once this area reopens as part of Disney Springs.
I’ll be curious to see if they bring back the live musicians – I always thought they were a great touch by the waterfront!
And, finally, the eagerly-awaited Marketplace Co-op is open for business, with the Disney Centerpiece boutique featuring all sorts of kitchen and home-use goodies for every Disney fan.
Here is a glimpse at a couple of our favorite items…
Take a more in-depth look here!
RESORTS
Old Key West
in Old Key West Resort introduced a Plantation Key Pork Chop, Seven Mile Sea Scallops, and Chicken Pasta Cayo Hueso to the Dinner Menu.
Saratoga Springs
at Saratoga Spring Resort and Spa has added Barbeque Spare Ribs to their appetizers.
Lemon Curd and Berries along with a No Sugar Added Lemon Mousse join the desserts (alas, no more Toffee pot de crème).
Yacht & Beach Club
is serving up several more recent items “From the Grill”! Choices include a Pork Belly Cuban Sandwich, a Chicken Sandwich (topped with Brie!), a Salmon sandwich, and Turkey Meatloaf on brioche bread.
Also featured among these new options is the Beaches Angus Burger, topped with ham, swiss, sautéed onions, horseradish mustard sauce, lettuce and tomato.
These options replace the Bacon Angus Beef Burger, Beaches Rachel Sandwich, Classic Turkey Sandwich, Chicken Caesar Sandwich, and Pot Roast Sandwich. Additionally, the Beaches Chef Salad replaced the Caesar Salad with Chicken.
Art of Animation
This small pizza station popped up at the Art of Animation’s Landscape of Flavors food court.
It’s a little grab-‘n-go serving individual pizzas, both adult and kid-sized.
Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village
While there isn’t any food news to report from Animal Kingdom Lodge, I did happen upon something food-related on my most recent visit to Kidani Village. It was suppertime for these guys and gals…
Guess we’re not the only ones food is important to around here 😉 .
And that brings us to the end of another round of “What’s New!” Until next time, Eat and Be Happy!
Have you spotted anything new during a recent trip around the World? We’d love to hear about it in a comment!
Essie says
OH, now I want to get down there and try all of these new things. Alas, for now I’ll just have to live on thru my DFB. Thanks guys!
BERNADETTE says
We LOVE the pretzels filled with cream cheese and hot peppers (I believe) that it seems you only sell in Animal Kingdom. Will you be selling them in the other theme parks … PLEASE!!!
Wendy says
Essie — thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoy these posts 🙂
Bernadette — Hi! I have good news for you, I think :). You can find the Jalapeno and Cheese Stuffed Pretzel in Epcot and Hollywood Studios, too! Here are the locations:
EPCOT: The Block & Hans Craft Beer stand in the American Adventure Pavilion
Hollywood Studios: The Pretzel Garden (it’s a small pretzel stand in the Streets of America section. It’s not always open, but worth a try!) They’ve also recently added another pretzel cart near the big Mickey’s Sorcerer hat that carries the Jalapeno and Cream Cheese pretzel, but that might just be around for the summer.
Enjoy!

Love all the info!! I’m trying to get my husband to take me back this fall for my 60th birthday, so I can’t wait to try the Columbia Harbor House – we’ve never eaten there before, so I’d love to try it!! We had the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream last year when we brought our grandkids – we cleaned it out between 5 of us!! Yummy!!
Wendy says
Hi, Jodi, and thanks for your note! I hope your birthday plans at WDW work out… Sounds like a great way to celebrate 60 :)!!
