Trying to get your recommended daily servings of fruits and veggies while touring the parks?
We’re spotlighting something that can help… with half of that goal, anyway ;)! We’re visiting Flame Tree Barbecue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the Fruit Plate with Honey Yogurt.
Flame Tree Barbecue is known for its hearty offerings with a menu focused on barbecue, naturally. Featured items include Ribs & Chicken and Pork Sandwiches. And ever since Trilo-Bites changed its menu, Flame Tree is THE place in Animal Kingdom to grab a Jumbo Turkey Leg. So the Fruit Plate stands out by being unique among the barbecue offerings.
We’ve always liked the Fresh Fruit Salad that you can find at Tamu Tamu Refreshments and Bradley Falls during the warmer months – so much so that we’ve yet to give the Flame Tree Fruit Plate its due. Let’s have a look!
The menu description says “Seasonal Fruit served with Honey Yogurt.” For my visit, the fruits served happened to match the picture on the menu: honeydew, watermelon, grapes, pineapple, cantaloupe, and orange.
While it doesn’t have the same visual impact as the Fresh Fruit Salad, it’s not bad in its own right!
It’s just a nice, light, chilled option, and there is a lot to be said for the portion size. For my dish, the half-orange wasn’t ripe yet (you can see how the orange rind is yellow and green), but everything else was in good shape, including the juicy pineapple.
For those who need to add a little extra zip to their fruit, the Honey Yogurt does the trick just fine, offering a creamy, sweet dipping sauce with a nice emphasis on the honey.
Just another chance to work towards that RDA at AK 😉 !

Looks Awesome! I certainly would give it a try, especially on those sweltering summertime visits to the park. Just looking at it makes me feel cooler.

Looks wonderful. I will have to try it this month. BTW that orange is perfectly ripe. It is in its natural state, that’s how we eat them here in FL.

I love fruit plates. However, since we only go to Animal Kingdom once during our trips, not our favorite park, I don’t think I can pass up the BBQ. It looks like a good one though.

Absolutely love the fruit plate and so do my kids

Yum! I would honestly pick this plate of fruit over a Mickey bar! Looks so delicious and refreshing!
Debbie says
This looks great! I have one question, though. Is the yogurt vegetarian?

I love a good sandwich, but if it’s very hot weather I think this fruit plate would be a great choice for me. It looks very refreshing and not heavy. Combined with a cold drink, it’d make a fine meal.

I have ordered this every time we’ve visited AK. It was very refreshing on those hot August days and extremely filling. It was also a great balance to the less healthy meals I had had in the other parks. I was always the last person finished, but we just sat a little while longer enjoying the view of the water and Expedition Everest in the background.

As appetizing as the meaty portions are, that fruit plate looks absolutely fantastic. I feel compelled to make my own here, but it won’t be the same without the honey lemon!

I had the fruit plate at Animal Kingdom. It was absolutely one of the best meals I have had at Disney.
