We are back to take another look into the tempting pastry cases at Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie in Epcot’s France Pavilion!
You know that we love Les Halles. I never pass up a chance to stop in here for a breakfast pastry. The Frangipane Triangle is my favorite!
At lunch, I often enjoy one of their deliciously authentic sandwiches, like the Jambon Beurre. It never fails to transport me straight back to France!
But you will never guess what I decided to try on this visit…
Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Meringue
On my last trip to Walt Disney World I, of course, had to stop by Les Halles. And I finally took the opportunity to try the — I can’t believe I’m going to say this — Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Meringues.
Wait. No. You have no idea how HUGE this thing is from the picture of it in the case. So, being the very helpful AJ I am, I knew I had to get one for you guys! If for no other reason, so you could see it on a plate.
Okay, here we are, out in the light at one of those great little cafe tables, tucked back into the France Pavilion. And now, you can appreciate the enormity of this meringue for yourself.
Still not getting it? That’s a fork on the plate beside it, for scale.
Maybe I was a little bowled over here. But I have never seen a meringue this big in my life!
Now, giant size aside, you know how I feel about meringues. Basically, they’re
sweet, fluffy air IMO, and not worth spending your money or your calories on. Kind of like “foam” in a fancy restaurant. What IS that??
But this one is notable for its generous size, and also for all of that wonderful Chocolate. Because that really does make a difference here.
The Meringue itself seems to be lightly flavored with Chocolate, and studded with Chocolate Chips. But then, it’s dipped in Chocolate, too. So the first good news is there’s actually flavor involved.
And the second? It’s certainly big enough to share.
So, if you’re a super meringue fan…or just want to be seen eating a dessert that’s easily as big as your head…it’s time to make your way over to Epcot’s France and grab one up!

Hey AJ, is this a Snack Credit? It looks awesome 😀

I like meringue; I like that it has a crumbly, crunchy texture, yet is very light and fluffy. Add chocolate to it and that’s even better yet. I love a good buttercream frosted cake, but meringue is a nice change once in a while. With chocolate chips and a chocolate dip, I’d certainly try this snack.

Chrisili – I was just at WDW earlier this month… The meringue is HUGE. My husband and I did not get it because we already knew what we were going in for, but it was tempting just because of the size. It is a snack credit or $2.95.

I wish we could get them by mail.

I tried this on my last visit and was very disappointed – I love pavlova and other meringue desserts, but this one just wasn’t executed well. It was so crunchy that it cut up the inside of my mouth while I was trying to eat it, and it smelled like wet dog but was otherwise flavorless. I tried to eat just the chocolate dipped portion and it was no better. Pass!

Anyone have an actual recipe for this?
