It stirred up quite the controversy when the Chicken Skewers were removed from the menu last spring at ‘Ohana.
This popular restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort features an assortment of meats grilled over an open-flame and served family style.
In recent months since the removal of the Chicken Skewers, featured meats have been Sweet and Sour Pork Loin, Szechuan Sirloin Steak, and Spicy Peel-and-Eat Shrimp. While chicken was still available in the form of Honey-Coriander Wings, it was no longer an entree.
However, as of today, we’re hearing anecdotal confirmation of a return as well as seeing chicken back under the “Skewers” menu at ‘Ohana on the official Walt Disney World website! Here’s a screen shot of the newly revised menu on the Walt Disney World website, listing Sweet and Sour Chicken. You may notice that the chicken dish has replaced the Sweet and Sour Pork Loin on the menu.

Now, as always, things are subject to change and change quickly in regards to

I’m super excited, though I don’t think it was “Sweet and Sour” chicken before. Either way I really didn’t like the pork so I’m happy to see chicken return in any form 🙂

We were at ‘Ohana’s last week and the chicken was not back on the menu, but when we told our server we didn’t care for the dry pork, he said the chicken on a skewer was returning. Multiple times we have not liked the pork so the chicken will be an improvement. Love the shrimp!
Well, hopefully the chicken is done right this time. We all know why they took it off the menu…
My family just had dinner tonight at Ohana and yes the chicken is back! It was a much welcomed surprise as we all thought it was gone. They didn’t serve the pork, which was fine with me as I never liked it anyway. Hopefully the chicken is back to stay!
Oh this is great news! I have an ADR at Ohana in 2 weeks! Although, I really wish the shrimp was replaced with the chicken instead of the pork :/ (I’m not a big shrimp fan)
What in the hell were they thinking taking chicken off of the menu? So happy it’s back and it should be to stay.
I hope the removal of the pork means that they won’t be removing the shrimp, as was rumored few weeks back.
Now, when will they be bring back the Fresh Pineapple!!

I just love EVERYTHING about this restaurant. So glad the chicken is back, although I liked the pork also. LOVE the new lettuce wraps, so glad they are still on the menu, although miss the salad too. The honey lime vinaigrette dressing was so good I make it at home. They just can’t please everyone I guess. Still, some of the most delicious food I ever ate and my stomach always hurts when I leave from eating so much!!!!
Ate at Ohana this past Sunday and I hate to say this, but I HATED the chicken! It was just chicken thighs, no white meat and tasted very gamey to me. Ugh. Shrimp was there and still the same, steak too. I’ve eaten here at least 5 times over the years, and this was my least favorite experience. The bread AND the bread pudding was dry. I don’t know, I was just underwhelmed this time around.
This change is very logical – more guests are willing/able to eat chicken than they are pork.
