So, I’ve got some serious Disney Popcorn for you today. And I. Mean. Serious. Like, so serious that if you don’t have any room left on your Disney World snack list for your next trip, you have to bump something else.
We’ve heard for years about all of the awesome Flavored Popcorns that guests enjoy at the Parks of Tokyo Disneyland. (Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers got to try many and shared them with us in this recent post.) And of course, we’ve seen a little dabbling in the Flavored Popcorn genre in Disneyland, with the intro of fun flavors at Sally’s Cozy Cone Motel.
But at Walt Disney World, we’ve been kind of stuck with the Butter Flavored or Caramel. There are pre-packaged flavors and some fun movie popcorn options. But as for fresh, flavored popcorn? Pretty much nada.
But not anymore!
Gourmet Flavored Popcorn at Epcot
There it is! Looks like just another Disney Popcorn cart, right? This one is right outside Journey into Imagination in Epcot. And it’s the ONLY one that we know of that furnishes these beautiful little snacks.
And there’s that fresh Disney Popcorn…
But then, you spy this — flavors!!!!! (And colors too!)
The menu tells all — you have your choice of popcorn here. You can go with the Gourmet Flavors, or you can stick with the plain Disney Popcorn. Both options are also available in a Souvenir Bucket too, of course.
This was too good to pass up — so of course, I had to try all three! The savory flavor choices include Cheddar Cheese, Buffalo Bleu Cheese, and Sour Cream and Chive.
You know I automatically gravitate toward any food that involves Buffalo — since I’m FROM there and I pretty much eat a gallon of Buffalo Wing sauce per week. (Whatever, don’t judge. There are no calories in that stuff.)
The Buffalo Bleu Cheese Popcorn was the most striking visually, and the flavor profile was complex — spicy and vinegary, with a rich bleu cheese undertone. It was deeeeeelicious!
The Cheddar Cheese Popcorn was incredible — better than any cheese popcorn you get in those weird tins at Christmas time. FULL of flavor!
But THEN you get to the creamy, mildly onion-y flavor of the Sour Cream and Chive Popcorn. Blammo! It was off the charts.
Oddly, I liked each one better than the previous…and then when I tried them all again in a different order, I felt the same. I’m not sure how to even put this, but the flavors were so concentrated that the popcorn was literally weighty with flavor.
But the BEST part? MIXING THEM!!! If you go get these popcornz — and you MUST GET THESE POPCORNZ — I need you to combine the sour cream and chive with the buffalo…and then combine the cheddar cheese with the sour cream and chive — and then the buffalo with the cheddar cheese…and on and on and on!
This is one of those treats that I would never think to try if I didn’t write this blog. After all — flavored popcorn is always sort of meh, right? Not this stuffs. Hightail it to that popcorn cart outside Journey into Imagination. Do it NOWWW.

As someone who once accidentally ate an entire bag of Sour Cream & Onion potato chips for dinner, I’m dying for some of that Sour Cream & Chive popcorn.

It figures that a fellow Buffalonian ‘would’ start a food blog 🙂
I’m staring out of my North Buffalo window at snow right now. Lots of snow.
No lie, I’m about to get some breakfast pizza right now and Franks hot sauce. Can’t wait to try that Buffalo popcorn in 256 days!

Do you know if this has artificial food dye? The colors are very bright. we have an allergy in our family but would love to try this.

My husband, my oldest son and I fought over the buffalo popcorn. It was delicious and an excellent use of a snack credit on the DDP!

You left out the only drawback…the finger stains! There is an over abundance of coloring in the seasoning. Delicious though!
Kelsey says
I really thought the red flavor would be that awful sweet-flavored popcorn — like “cherry” or “cotton candy”. When I say awful, I mean amazing.
Debbie says
What a perfect location for the cart with all these flavors 🙂
We’ll try these, but I’m hoping they’ll add something sweet as well (before Apr 26!)
Ashley says
Just a heads up, because I did this just the other day– you can ask for all three flavors layered in one box. The CM asked which flavor I wanted on top. Grab a plate and dump them out if you want to try them all, or shake to mix. Yum!

Ashley I do the same thing!!! well almost– I have the cast member alternate the buffalo and the sour cream in a souvenir bucket. They have very nicely indulged me on my last 3 trips so you can easily get some of each of the 2 flavors in every handful. I love this combo and I do NOT usually do anything spicy (not a buffalo wings girl) nor do I like blue cheese. But I cannot get enough of this combo. The cheese is the best cheese popcorn I have found anywhere. Wish they would expand this to the other parks!!!

We tried the buffalo and sour cream and chive. At first glance, the color is a little off-putting. I expected them to have a chemical taste to them, but these were delicious. I love that the buffalo isn’t straight BUFFALO. At first crunch you get the spicy-vinegar taste of the wings, THEN you get the blue cheese. The sour cream and chive was awesome, too. They were a nice, different snack and a pleasant surprise…. but I’ll take the buttery popcorn any day!
On a side note.. I think Disney is really expanding their popcorn. This cart may be a test. I picked up a variety bag of popcorn from the marketplace at DTD. It had flavors like French Toast and Cookies and Cream and the cheddar, which is comparable to the cheddar posted here. We’ve seen the mac and cheese phenomenon, we loved the waffle phenomenon… I think the popcorn craze is next!

Didn’t sound like they do “combo” pack but they should – in a souvenir tin just like they do at Christmas. They could probably charge $20 and people would buy it. It would be great to be able to do that.

I hope this is a big hit. I want to see flavored popcorn explode in popularity (pun intended). Whenever I read about the flavors at Tokyo Disney or the test trials like French Toast I think “boy I need that!”
Essie says
I’d love to try the blue cheese and the sour cream and onion. It’s a great snack and I think that flavors, both sweet and savory are a wonderful idea.
Bethany says
How would I find out about gluten content in the flavored popcorn? Just ask at the kiosk when I’m there?
I walked past this kiosk last fall, did a double take, but didn’t try any. I’ve been so disappointed in the past with cheese popcorn. I take my flavored popcorn seriously!
Will definitely be trying next time at Epcot. Maybe bring some Ziploc bags so can try all three!

I happened to stumble across this cart last December (2016). I absolutely couldn’t believe how awesome this popcorn is. I went back to Epcot just to get more popcorn. We’re going again next week and I’m most excited about getting more of this popcorn, especially the sour cream and onion and blue cheese flavors. I was doing a Google search to see if these flavors are sold in any of the other parks and I came across this article that says it’s only available at that one cart at Epcot. If that has changed, let me know! I plan to bring a large quantity back to Chicago.
