If you’ve been wondering what would become of Taste Pilots’ Grill at Disney California Adventure, then you’ll be happy to know that the wait to check out the new place is just about over!
Behind those construction walls, the area formerly known as Condor Flats is transforming into the Grizzly Peak Airfield. The re-imagined area will pay homage to the brave firefighters who battle wildfires throughout the forests of California.
While the new area will be revealed in phases, the first part to open will feature the newly transformed Smokejumpers Grill.
We are glad to know that guests will enjoy some of the fantastic burgers that were available at Taste Pilots’ Grill.
I absolutely loved the Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger on our last visit! I hope to see it on the new menu.
But there will be some exciting new additions to the menu as well. The new lineup will include a Bacon Cheddar Burger, a Grilled Chicken & Jack Sandwich, and a Chili Cheeseburger.
Fingers crossed that the amazing condiment bar also returns.
When the project is completed, guest will enjoy new building facades and landscape feautures meant to transport them to California’s High Sierras.
We’re also getting a sneak peek of the newly transformed Soarin’! The popular ride is currently closed for refurbishment while the screen and projection system are updated.
Look for it to reopen later this Spring!
What do you think of the transformation of Taste Pilots’ Grill to the Smokejumpers Grill? Leave a comment and tell us if you look forward to checking out the new spot!

I think it’s wonderful that they are honoring the brave Firemen who risk their lives to protect people’s lives and property!

Those lush pines will be a welcome bit of shade. That area was more like an actual tarmac before. Can’t wait to get back!

Looks cool – I’ve missed it. But I really wish they’d bring back the ribs!

Sounds like great changes. I am sure the Imagineers thought this through. The concept drawings look inviting and more of a fluent move from this land into Grizzly Peak. It was a very hot and open area before. Cannot wait. I have not been to Taste Pilot Grill in a long time, so look forward to visiting this newly imagined grill.

Although I won’t miss the large, flat, open hot (!) tarmac of Condor Flats, I think I’ll miss the trio of singers who used to roll in and do a show several times a day. I think re-theming to honor fire fighters is totally Disney and it’s a great way to draw focus back to California, via the High Sierras, since it is, after all California Adventure Park. Might also smooth the theme transition from Buena Vista St./Carthay Circle to Grizzly Peak.
I do hope, though, that they change the animated intro to Soarin’ either back to what it was or get something with improved animation. I didn’t (terribly) mind the Planes themed video intro (makes sense!), but the animation quality was NOT up to Disney standards, IMHO.
Sadly, every time I’ve walked passed Taste Pilot’s Grill I’ve always been full or between meals. I’ve got to work it in someday, though 🙂 !
