UPDATE: Please note, at this time Bob Jackson is not schedule to perform at The Boathouse. If anything changes, we’ll update this post accordingly.
You know, for…like…forever, as Disney food fans we’ve all had our eyes on a couple of major food stories: breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant and the opening of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto have received all the attention lately (well, that, and the rumored news of a possible Jungle Cruise Restaurant coming to the Magic Kingdom).
So, you may be thinking, “Well, that’s it. I guess all the big Disney food news is over for now.”
Not so fast, my friends!! Because now we’re turning our attention to the next presumed restaurant opening in Disney World: The Boathouse, which is anticipated to open sometime in April in Downtown Disney/soon-to-be-Disney-Springs. While we don’t have an exact opening date just yet, we do have some news about one of our favorite Disney performers that may be joining the entertainment line-up.
You see, in addition to food, The Boathouse is also expected to offer
a unique variety of entertainment, from live music to various boat-themed attractions such as Italian Water Taxis and guided Amphicar Tours.
Word has it that Yeeha Bob — regularly seen at Port Orleans Riverside’s River Roost Lounge — may be entertaining guests at The Boathouse as well! According to the terrific Port Orleans fan site, PortOrleans.org, some of Bob’s nights off from the River Roost will be spent bringing his incredible talent to the folks over at The Boathouse! You can also visit Yeeha Bob’s site, where he mentions being tentatively scheduled at The Boathouse.
Don’t expect, however, the traditional singalong Yeeha Bob show we’ve come to know and love over the years at the River Roost. Rather, Bob Jackson will be bringing some of his terrific instrumental jazz skills to the folks on the Water Taxis, along with accompaniment from a saxophonist.
Suffice it to say, if we weren’t excited for The Boathouse before, we sure are now! How about you 🙂 ?
What do you think of the potential for entertainment at the upcoming Boathouse? Please let us know with a comment!

I’m SO glad he’s not leaving PORS to be at the Boathouse.

I’m sure we’ll give the Boathouse a shot, but I wish more intimate dining options were coming to Disney Springs. It seems like every dining option in Downtown Disney is either a loud, boisterous family restaurant (T-Rex, Rainforest Café) or a loud, boisterous watering hole that also serves food (pretty much every restaurant except Fulton’s and Portobello’s). When these restaurants with their 40 ft. ceilings mix with a live band and the crowd levels that are Disney World, the result can be deafening!

OMG for about one tiny second I thought I was about to read “One of our favorite performers” Off Kilter – man I almost fainted. But I LOVE Bob and hopefully they will NEVER replace him.
So he will be working Monday & Tues at the Boathouse and Wed-Sat. at PO ?
Can’t wait for the Boathouse to open. DTN Disney (as it was) has needed a lift for a long time.

I really like the idea of jazz at Disney Springs. While Yeeha Bob is well known for his raucous sing alongs, he is an amazing pianist! I’d love to experience him actually being serious about music. If this is open and in play for our trip 4/23-28, I think we’ll be paying a visit! If not, then in the fall when we’re back down.

We spoke with Bob over the weekend as we stayed at PO…and it looks like he will be there Monday and Tuesday only.

Why doesn’t Off Kilter perform at Raglan Road ? Just wonderin’.

Linda I wish I knew, because it is such a waste of awesome talent. I would only imagine how crowed it would be. Wish Disney would just listen to us.
