Summer may have just officially started, but we are already thinking of the Holidays at Walt Disney World!
Sounds crazy, I know, but we’re just over 180 days — six months! — until the holidays are in full swing, and NOW is the time to make dining plans for your holiday meals — but it’s also the time to consider what other fun activities you’ll enjoy at Walt Disney World this holiday season.
To jumpstart your planning, today we’re talking about some of our favorite Tips from the DFB Guide to the Holidays at Disney World: Three Holiday Events that you can’t miss!
And speaking of the DFB Guide, don’t get to take advantage of our 180 Days Til Christmas Sale! Through June 28, we’re offering three great ways to save when you pre-order the 2015 DFB Guide to the Holidays at Walt Disney World. Check out all of the details about the sale here!
Now, let’s take a look at some of our favorite holiday events that you should definitely plan on working into your Disney holiday calendar…
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Snow on Main Street USA and life-size Toy Soldiers? That’s part of your reality when you attend the long-running and beloved Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
This hard-ticketed event takes place during select evenings from November 8 until December 18, 2015, this year, and brings all of the joy and warm fuzzy feeling of Christmas and the holiday season to Magic Kingdom.
During the event, guests enjoy special entertainment and character meet and greets. Complimentary cocoa and cookies fuel you up for all the fun. And there are TONS of special, exclusive treats that you can enjoy only during the Party!
And be sure to grab a front row seat for Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, which features Santa as well as some of your favorite Disney holiday characters. And, of course Anna and Elsa will be there!
Holidays Around the World
Looking to observe the holidays with international flair? Then an evening at Epcot for Holidays Around the World will fit the bill nicely. Enjoy a stroll around Epcot’s beautiful World Showcase as storytellers from around the globe share seasonal tales within several of the pavilions — free with Epcot admission!
And if you didn’t score a seat for the Candlelight Processional, no worries. You can still catch some or all of the performance from the walkway behind the American Gardens Theater.
And don’t forget the delicious food! You’ll find lots of treats, inspired by the flavors and traditions of the countries represented in World Showcase.
That’s one of the best ways to get into the spirit, we think. 🙂
Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
Our final stop on our must-do list is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Because I don’t care how old you are — you are a child again the moment you set foot into the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
You’ll find the explosion of color — millions of dancing lights lining everything! — on the Streets of America in the back of the Park. This display has continued to grow and has become a beloved tradition for Disney fans visiting during the holiday season.
The event is opened to all park goers, so no worries about purchasing an extra ticket (though you WILL want to plan ahead for when you attend — the crowds get thick!). But be assured, you’ll also find plenty of special treats to enjoy as you take in all the color!
Here’s hoping the fun Gumdrop Cocktail returns in 2015!

The lights and decor on Main St., the Ice Castle, the MVMCP, Christmas Around the World, Candlelight Processional, and Osbourne Spectacle of Lights with the life sized Nativity just blew me away! I can’t wait to go at the holidays again! Oh, and all of the gingerbread creations at the resorts and the lights and décor at DTD!

AJ, I can’t get your guide books because I don’t have a tablet and I only have a stupid phone, no smart phone.
Joni says
I have a smart phone but would really love to have a “”book type” guide book.
Also,My mom would love it but does not have a comp, tablet or smart phone. So I think your missing out by not having both options.
So see there are 3 BOOKS you could have sold.
Think about it please.
AJ says
Essie — If you have a computer at all, you can get the books! They’re PDF files that will open on any computer 😀
Joni — We’ve absolutely put plenty of thought into releasing print guides. Currently, the cost projections just aren’t working, but we’re looking into offering print-on-demand options in the future. For now, though, they’re only in e-Book format. Thanks for your interest!

My most amazing memory of the Osborne lights is ; we were there on Christmas day and we went to wait in the area till it was dusk and the lights were put on. It is absolutely breath taken When it snows it’s the best. I have such beautiful pictures of my kids with the lights above them.I’m so sad to hear that they will be leaving Hollywood studios. We love how the music and lights are synchronized it’s spectacular. The life size nativity is so beautiful. Please don’t forget Santa Goofy he is so cute and it makes an AWESOME Christmas card. I wish that Disney would reconsider this decision. My heart is VERY SAD!!!!!!!!!!!

I preordered the 2015 Food and Wine festival and the 2015 holidays book. I received and downloaded the 2014 editions but now I don’t know what to do to get the 2015 editions that I paid for. Can you help me?
Brooke says
Denise — The 2015 DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays Book hasn’t been released yet, but the 2015 DFB Guide to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival Book has. I’m so sorry if we’ve missed sending you the updated Food and Wine Guide! Since I don’t see an email address here where we can contact you, please send an email to [email protected] detailing what you need, and our book specialist will reach out to you. Thank you for your support of DFB. We appreciate it so much!

Just got our tix for the VMCP, and scored a coveted Be Our Guest reservation . . . But it’s during the party! Wondering if anyone’s heard anything about the menu being special? Normally sit down restaurants aren’t open, right? I don’t want to miss the party unless there is a special experience in store. The reservation mentioned that separate ticketing was required. Thanks!
