So, Everything Pop Food Court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort is at it again.
We recently shared our review of lunch here. But when we heard of a new-to-us breakfast sandwich, I knew we needed to get in gear and head back to Everything Pop asap.
In the past, Pop Century has brought us such greats as Twinkie Tiramisu, Tie-Dyed Cheesecake, and Mom’s Night Out TV Dinners, but this one…this one is going to take some getting used to.
The Pop-Tarts® Breakfast Sandwich
OK, so here we go. This unique breakfast sammy includes: eggs, bacon, cheese (pretty standard, right?) and…Pop-Tarts. Yep. Pop-Tarts. As in the original breakfast toaster pastry.
And I may be able to understand the whole thing if they were using the un-frosted brown sugar version…that might give it a fun, breakfast-y sweet/salty thing. But, no. They’re sandwiching the egg, bacon, and cheese between two frosted strawberry Pop-Tarts. Wha?!?
Yeah, so, that’s happening.
Should you take up the challenge and try one of these yourself, here’s a little primer.
The entire sandwich is toasted, so the frosting and strawberry filling from the Pop-Tart melt into the sandwich. Think of this as, like, a gravy sandwich or something — get some napkins and a fork!
The frosting actually gives a seriously sweet edge to the sandwich, and, believe it or not, it was a decent flavor with the bacon and cheese. The egg, however, was more of an egg “patty,” and didn’t have much flavor. I would have much preferred a fresh, fried egg.
Halfway through the sandwich I actually took the egg off completely, and at that point, it was “not too bad.”
So, there you have it — the Pop-Tarts Breakfast Sandwich at Pop Century. Please, please leave a comment and let me know if 1.) You’ve tried this, 2.) What you think of it, and 3.) Would you want to try it on your next Disney visit. 😀

Yesss I’ve been waiting for your review! I’m surprisingly really interested in trying this. I agree with you though, it should be a fresh egg. I hate those egg patties! Maybe this is something I’m better off creating at home 😉 Thank you for being brave and trying it; I can’t wait to see the breakfast cone next!
Fran says
You are a brave soul. Just the thought of poptarts with eggs and bacon has me running for my cereal! Thanks for taking one for the team!
Shannon Tis says
I’m slightly disgusted yet oddly intrigued by this combination.
Jenn @ Fairest Run of All says
That is insane. I MUST TRY IT.
Tracy says
Ewww! They keep this but take the poop candy away! Somehow the poop candy seems less icky than this!
christine says
um, no thanks! that looks nasty.
Wendy says
Yes, I think a fresh egg would be better. Also, I know it’s a sandwich and ‘intended’ to be picked up, but I think the top pop tart should be flipped over, so the frosting shows. Better presentation! =) I’d give it a try!
Richard says
I agree with @Tracy, this is way worse than poop candy!
Susanne says
We’re staying at Pop Century next week, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be reviewing this for you. I’ll take a Mickey waffle any old day.

What Christine said !!!

You’re a brave woman. Just looking at a picture of it makes me feel slightly queasy.
Lori Heathorn says
Gosh no! Just no. My entire office heard the description and a concerted Ehhwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! was heard. And while I can agree in principle that fresh eggs beat out processed egg patties, in this case, it would just be insulting to a fresh egg to even be associated with this mess.

This past year, while staying at “The Pop”, intrigued after seeing this sandwich on the menu, day after day, I broke down and ordered one. Yes, you may start out holding this sandwich-style, but you will probably turn to a fork to complete it.
The flavor? To me it’s oddly good, yet, is an unholy combination of foods that should not come to mind when trying to make a breakfast sandwich. I would have to thank the 50s/60s for other mash up food ideas that spurned this creation. Also, I get it…Pop Century has a Pop Tart Sandwich.
It is along the line of “must try once”, for me, though I admittedly had it more than once after initial consumption. It goes well with coffee too.
It’s odd. It’s a good odd. Try it.
Holly says
Yeah…NO! What are they thinking??
Mark says
I think Shannon hit the nail on the head. Gotta be a kid sometimes.
Essie says
I. Think. I’ll. Pass.
A.J. did they do away with the poop candy already?
AJ says
Essie — The Poop Candy is gone, but we’re hoping it will be back soon!

My kids got this the last time we went to Disney. I tried it and was pleasantly surprised that it tastes pretty good! The sweet and salty combination is nice. I even enjoyed the hint of strawberry. People who like jelly on a biscuit sandwich should like this combo. Try it! You never know!!!

There’s a lot better things I can waste 600ish calories on. Now a Pop Tart ice cream sandwich? That I could fully support 🙂
Amy says
I think Shannon is absolutely right. I’ve seen these the last couple of times I’ve stayed at POP. They’ve been around awhile. I haven’t mustered up the gumption to try one yet. Maybe next time, though. What’s the worst thing that could happen?
JM says
Not a fan of Pop Tarts myself, but we have some in the cupboards. Thinking I will make this for breakfast for the kids. Given all the other mash ups they eat, they just might like it.
TomP says
I had one this week. Much better than boring bread surrounding the traditional stack up! It fell apart when I tried to eat it like a sandwich. The texture and taste collision between the bacon and the Pop Tarts was the only drawback for me. It’s a good thing to try once.
Scott H says
Haven’t tried it yet but will absolutely try it next time.
Alyse says
Kind of a “poor mans” monte cristo…. however at Disney prices, you should get the real thing. That aside… I honestly want one 🙂 I think it looks good 🙂

My family is staying at Pop this summer, and I can’t wait to try it!

I saw this on my one of your YouTube videos and I had to recreate it! Used a fresh egg! Buttered the non frosted sides of the pop tarts absolutely sprinkled the top with just a touch of cinnamon sugar (you know to guild the lily). I also used the microwave bacon, didn’t microwave it though I knew it would cook in the oven. So how I made it:
Scrambled an egg first
Buttered the plain side of a pop tart and put it on a small pan frosting side up then layered a piece of American cheese followed by a strip of bacon then the scrambled egg then another strip of bacon then another piece of cheese. Lastly I placed the second pop tart icing side down and buttered the top and sprinkled with a little cinnamon sugar. Baked it all at 350 F for 10 minutes and then high on the broiler till it was nice and toasted. It’s actually really really good!
