When it comes to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lately, it seems the more things change, the more they… keep on changin’!
We all got pretty excited about the announcements from the D23 Expo about the BIG changes coming to Hollywood Studios, as well as the Skipper Canteen on the way to Magic Kingdom. But Animal Kingdom got a share of the spotlight, too, with further details announced regarding attractions that will be part of the upcoming new land of Pandora — The World of AVATAR, and the Rivers of Light Nighttime Spectacular as well as sunset adventures for Kilimanjaro Safaris on the way.
But, as usual, we’re keeping our eye on the small changes, too! Let’s take a walk around Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a mini edition of “What’s New!”
ASIA
Royal Anandapur Tea Company
Thanks to the excitement over the new Tea Trader’s Cafe by Joffrey’s in Downtown Disney, we know there are more than a few of you tea fans out there! So, you may want to take note of some new offerings at the Royal Anandapur Tea Company…
New and seasonal additions for hot brew choices include Black Currant, Jasmine, Lemon Ginger, Morrocan Mint, Green Dragon Oolong and Honeybell Orange.
Also new to the list is the African Celebration blend: rooibos, rose petals and herbs with walnut, almond, vanilla, and Mandarin orange.
Bradley Falls
A Teriyaki Beef Slider has replaced the Thai Pork Sandwich at the seasonally open Bradley Falls.
The shredded teriyaki beef on a thick slider-size brioche bun provides just the right amount of sustenance before facing the Yeti at Expedition Everest!
DISCOVERY ISLAND
Beastly Kiosk
There has been a small tweak to the Beastly Kiosk’s still-new menu. While the Baked Lobster Macaroni and Cheese is still going strong, the Baked Pasta is now made with a Three-Cheese blend as opposed to its previous Mozzarella.
Pizzafari
If you’re visiting Disney World over the next few months, be sure to keep in mind that Pizzafari will be closed for refurbishment from August 24th through mid-late October.
Could this be tied to the rumors about a Table Service restaurant on the way to Animal Kingdom, possibly sharing space with Pizzafari? After all, with Rivers of Light and the upcoming addition of evening safaris turning Animal Kingdom into an all-day destination, many more guests will be sticking around for dinner, and more Table Service options would definitely be welcome news in that case!
Allergy Kiosk
Remember how a whole buncha stuff switched around once Flame Tree Barbecue reopened after its refurbishment in July? Well, one of those spots was the Allergy-Friendly kiosk, which had moved from one side of Discovery Island to the other (now right across from Creature Comforts, the Animal Kingdom Starbucks location).
We were surprised to find it closed on our recent visit, but fret not — we were informed that it is just getting a little makeover and will be back up and running by mid-September.
Happy to know this great kiosk isn’t going anywhere!
Of course, it hasn’t been at all unusual spying refurbishment walls throughout the park over the past year. But the Dream Builders signs serve as a good reminder that there is lots of good stuff on the way for all of us to enjoy at Animal Kingdom.
Of the most recent announcements from Pandora, to evening safaris, to the Rivers of Light spectacular, I think I’m most excited to see what Rivers of Light has in store. How about you?
Which upcoming additions are you most excited for at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Please let us know with a comment!

Sounds like you’re going to have to go try that 3-cheese blend pasta at the Beastly kiosk. I’m coming in October and it’d be cool to have a review of it before I arrive. 🙂

The tea stand is one of our favorite break places in AK and we’ll definitely be hitting it in November to try some of the newer tea blends. That beef slider looks like a snack winner for my son too.

Feel like we’re not getting the full story on what’s up with the allergy food stand… Would hate to get the wool pulled over my eyes.

@Craig,
I assume the allergy kiosk is being repainted to the more earthy colours that can be seen on the Beastly kiosk and Creature comforts.

Quick Question. I noticed the Lobster Mac & cheese has a dining plan symbol next to it. Is this a snack option or a counter service option?
This is my sons favorite thing to eat
