At the Fife & Drum, a counter service spot located at the front of the pavilion where we love to pick up our American Dream Slush and other assorted goodies, you can now indulge in a new snack item: Apple Pie a la Mode.

Now, don’t get too excited. This is basically the same counter-service apple pie “pocket” that you have always been able to get over at Liberty Inn next door, and at Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom. And that’s OK, since it IS pretty good. But with this option, they’ve added vanilla soft serve ice cream to make it “a la mode.”

The apple pie is warm so make sure you eat this quickly since the ice cream melts super fast! It’s a great dish for the coming autumnal weather in Orlando (we hope).

Overall, this is a nice little grab-and-go sweet if you’re on the run around the Showcase. But we’d probably still choose the ice-cream topped cronut if we had our druthers.

Hi! Longtime fan of the blog here! I love your coverage and thank you for all that you do. One thing I have noticed is a lack of detail in many of your reviews. This one is a perfect example. You don’t describe the item in detail. Was it fresh apple or canned apple pie filling? Was the crust flaky? Were there discernible spices in the filling? Was the pie dry and therefore the soft serve a welcome component? I have found that many reviews on this site only focus on one or two aspects of the item and don’t really go into the detail I would require before helping me make the determination of buying the item or not. What you’re doing is fabulous but just doesn’t go quite far enough for me.
Lindsey, I’m on your boat. Sorry AJ but, I feel like the review of things have really been lacking while the amount of content increases…

I’ve been off this blog for a few weeks and this review caught my eye,only to feel like it’s lacking in a true review.
Those are just my two cents. Hope I’m not mean,I’m just a bit disappointed in this site as of late.
When I visited in late Sept/early Oct, the American Dream was gone. 🙁
