We have another new experience to show you today from the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival!
We all know that Disney has really, seriously upped their game where coffee is concerned. Gone are the days when you couldn’t get a decent cup of coffee in the ‘World. And a lot of the credit for the transformation goes to Joffrey’s.
While you may be most familiar with Joffrey’s for the numerous kiosks that they operate throughout the Parks, their presence at Disney goes a lot further than that.
Stop for that morning latte or Americano at Contemporary Grounds, and you’re drinking Joffrey’s. Or the next time you savor that special roast at your favorite Disney Signature Restaurant, and you’ll be happy to know that Joffrey’s is responsible.
Happy, why? Because you can now also take their signature roasts home with you, thus extending the deliciousness of your vacay just a wee bit longer.
But Joffrey’s has taken another step in its partnership with Disney. In 2014, the coffee and tea company, located in Tampa, presented free Back to Basics seminars at Festival Center. (Those return this year as well.) But this year, they’re also presenting a beautiful outdoor exhibit at the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival — Master of the Roast.
You’ll find the exhibit as you make your way toward the Festival Center. And if you are a coffee lover, I encourage you to take a few moments to stop and have a look.
At certain times, you’ll find the Joffrey’s Master Roaster on hand, who talks about the coffee harvesting, roasting, and brewing processes, and answers questions from guests.
Helpful signs around the exhibit highlight the main components of the process. Did you know one mature coffee tree only yields one and a half pounds of coffee annually? Wow!
If the Master Roaster isn’t on hand to talk you through the process, the signs and exhibits lend to a really informative self-guided tour. This sign, which explains a bit about the roasting and tasting process, is especially interesting. Look at the beans at the bottom that provide you with a good visual of roasting from start to finish.
On the first day that I passed the exhibit, they were actually roasting coffee right there! And yep…it smelled pretty heavenly. 🙂
There’s also a great graphic which explains the steps to making a perfect cup. Different ways of brewing are described as well. Check it out — you may a new method you’d like to explore!
Around the edge of the exhibit, you can view some of the different types of pots including (from front to back) a vacuum pot, a French press, and a drip coffee machine.
At the end of the presentation, a Cast Member hosting the area handed me this terrific coupon to try a bit of Joffrey’s coffee for myself. Perfect — since all of this talk about java left me craving a cup.
And since there’s a Joffrey’s stand adjacent to the exhibit, I didn’t have far to go to indulge. 🙂
Because the mission of Epcot has always been education — in part, anyway — this is the perfect spot for Joffrey’s to continue to teach casual fans and passionate connoisseurs all about the drink that they love.
