New Year’s Eve celebrations aren’t hard to come by when you’re ringing in the New Year in Disney World!
Maybe you’ll be welcoming 2016 with a special showing of Wishes at the Magic Kingdom or Illuminations at Epcot. And, of course, every year there are extra admission-required events also available for guests to choose from.
We shared some of the special holiday happenings taking place on December 31st at locations like Monsieur Paul, Le Cellier, and California Grill in a previous post. But for those looking for an extra-big splurge… the Countdown to Midnight might be just the thing to add to your celebration.
The Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center will be the setting for this special event, which Disney is billing as a Progressive “3-in-1” Party featuring food and cocktails, as well as live entertainment and music.
The celebration begins at 8:00 PM (with check-in starting at 7:30 PM). First, take a walk down nostalgia lane while enjoying an “interactive comedy reunion at the Adventurer’s Club” (after stopping for a cocktail, beer, or wine at an open bar). Second, Club Live will set the stage for dancing to a live 9-piece band. Third, Club Vinyl will feature a 7-piece band playing jazzed-up versions of music from today in a “Preservation Hall” setting.
Additionally, special guest star Vanessa Williams has joined the lineup as the event’s headliner.
Buffet and dessert stations and drinks are included with admission. And just before midnight, it will be time to put on a New Year’s Eve hat or tiara for the big countdown into 2016. Once the clock strikes twelve, a balloon drop and confetti blast will welcome the New Year, along with a champagne toast using your keepsake glass.
I mentioned this was a splurge, didn’t I? Indeed, it is… to the tune of $300 per person (including tax and gratuity). Interested guests MUST have a prior Disney Resort hotel reservation for December 31, 2015 in order to purchase tickets and attend the party, and can call (407) 939-3463 to book. [UPDATE: Since the original publishing of this post, booking has since been opened to ALL guests, and is no longer limited strictly to Disney World Resort guests.] Full details are available on the Walt Disney World website, including information regarding complimentary bus transportation which will be available to and from select Resorts as onsite parking will not be available for this event.

I’m confused by something. Well I’m confused by many things. But this one is relevant. So the Y and B Club is doing an Adventurers Club night. There is a line of cell phone cases and even a wooden sign bearing the Adventurers Club logo. There is a huge following online of people who were religious patrons of the place. The couple times we went it was packed. I understand her need to go more “family friendly”, but how is there not a place SOMEWHERE on that acreage for a return. Some of the decisions from Disney recently are real head scratchers. Getting rid of the World Showcase players, eliminating Off Kilter for a brief run of the traveling lumberjack show and eliminating the Adventurers Club to put in a strip mall with stores I can visit here. The customer isn’t always right, but in this case I don’t think we’re far off. Side note: if you’re not bringing back Off Kilter, could they make a return on Canada Day at the American Adventure pavilion? Then demolish the stage for a quick serve or food cart serving variations on good high quality poutine fries.

Thrilled they’re doing something with the AC. We all want more. Bring it back and we’ll all flock there.

I suspect Disney is mining the reserve of good will towards the Adventurer’s Club, much the same way they are monetizing other past attractions and features of the parks and resorts with T shirts, mugs, signs, and such. While I think most people would want to bring back the Adventurer’s Club, Disney has decided that Disney Springs is going to be about themed restaurants run by others (Boathouse, Morimoto, etc…) and Shopping. There’s no place for a new AC by Disney there.
$300 per person for NYE? While that sounds like a lot, it’s actually a lot less than I expected for a Disney event., and on par with higher end events in major cities.
