Star Wars fans, rejoice! We are starting to see some major Star Wars additions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the new Season of the Force!
These additions weren’t expected to arrive until January 5 so it looks they got a head start — and just in time for the release of the new movie! New to Hollywood Studios is Launch Bay.
This spot is patrolled by Stormtroopers throughout the day.
Inside Launch Bay is a large exhibit featuring movie props, memorabilia, and character meet and greets.
They are also showing a short film, which includes sneak peeks and insider looks at the new movie as well as interviews with several members of the Star Wars family.
Also playing now is Star Wars: Path of the Jedi, which is a presentation featuring Luke Skywalker and his journey to discovering the importance of the Force.
Eats
But if FOOD is your destination, Launch Bay won’t offer you much. You’ll have to venture elsewhere in the Studios to find these goodies!
Throughout the park you can find some new souvenir popcorn buckets and drink souvenir sippers.
They have the BB-8 Souvenir Stein.
We found this one served with Padawan Limeade Punch being served right outside of Launch Bay.
The Chewbacca Souvenir Stein is a popular find as well.
And for popcorn, you can munch from Darth Vader, the Han Solo Bucket, or the TIE Fighter.
Also for sale throughout the park is a purple Souvenir Cup option.
But if you want a fully Star Wars themed meal then you need to head over to Backlot Express, which is conveniently located right nextdoor to the reopened Jedi Training Academy.
Star Wars fans will remember Backlot Express being the home of the Rebel Hanger during Star Wars Weekends. Now the quick-service menu itself has been updated with some Star Wars themed foods.
The black buns are back with the Royal Guard Burger, which comes with barbecued brisket, monetary jack cheese, and veggies on a black pumpernickel bun. Looks like the same black bun from Rebel Hanger and Galactic Grill in Disneyland.
There is a Galactic Chicken Salad to try, but one thing I couldn’t pass up was the basket of Corellian Spice Fries!
The fries are tossed with parmesan and topped off with garlic powder and parsley.
These were delicious, and a good bargain. Love the Star Wars themed serving paper!
A quick-service version of the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles from Rebel Hanger is also now available. We decided to grab the Padawan (child) portion on this one.
We’re fans of Disney’s chicken tenders, so these were winners for us.
The Padawan version comes with a small cup of french fries. You can order applesauce or carrot sticks if you prefer.
And I was very happy to see the Darth Vader waffles again! And, yes, you get a cup of syrup with your order.
Next up? Star Wars desserts!
I haven’t seen the return of the Blue Milk yet (a Blue Milkshake was found, but thats coming up later!), but you will find a Blue Panna Cotta!
The panna cotta is topped off with blue gelatin and blueberries.
You know how I feel about panna cotta (I basically see the stuff as “milk jello” and don’t love the texture), but if you’re a fan, it’s worth a try. Also, this dessert is no-added-sugar.
You definitely can’t say the same about the two new cupcakes released!
Returning is the Darth Vader Cupcake with chocolate and peanut butter flavors.
But new to the Studios cupcake mix is the BB-8 Lemon Cupcake with Vanilla Buttercream!
Piled high on top of the icing were some cool looking chocolate rocks.
The rocks were milk chocolate and delicious, but there were a LOT of them, making this dessert a little difficult to eat. And VERY sweet.
Also on top was a white chocolate BB-8 Droid. Cute!
Another new Star Wars cupcake is the Chocolate Coconut Kashyyyk German Chocolate Cupcake.
DELICIOUS! On top of the chocolate icing is quite a bit of toasted coconut.
And of course a milk chocolate Chewbacca.
Take a bite and you’ll find some traditional German Chocolate coconut filling. Awesome, but this one is both huge and filling!
You can find the Star Wars themed cupcakes at other quick-service locations throughout Hollywood Studios as well, including the ABC Commissary and Starring Rolls!
Also available at Backlot are a couple of new Star Wars drinks — The Dark Side Red, which includes vodka, chambord, grenadine, and Sweet-and-Sour; and the Blue Harvest, made up of bourbon, cointreau, blue curacao, sweet-and-sour, and Sprite. The Dark Side Red comes with a Death Star glow cube, and the Blue Harvest comes with a Millennium Falcon glow cube.
OK, venturing out of Backlot Express, let’s head back toward the front of the park to partake in the brand new Blue Milk Shake at Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner!
Min and Bill’s is always pleasantly surprising us with new and fun milkshakes, so we were excited to see yet another addition!
This one is a blue raspberry milkshake, which may not sound all that exciting — but it IS infused with cream!
This was VERY creamy, and garnished with whipped cream as well.
Overall
We can’t wait for the release of the next adventure in the Star Wars saga, but it’s good to know you can celebrate it a bit early at Hollywood Studios with these eats and drinks. And with all of the up and coming Star Wars Land plans, you can be sure that the food selections will keep on coming!
Have you tried any of the new Star Wars eats yet? Let us know in the comments below!

I’m happy and surprised to see that the Chicken & Waffles dish comes with tenders instead of nuggets! How many came with the Padawan order?

Are they still able/doing the chicken gluten free?

How long will all this last for or is it a new permanent thing at HS x

The Launch Bay is very well done. I can imagine the wait for the intro movie will get long on busy days, but it is well produced. Lots of great movie props. Good game area too. Will be fun to watch it develop as new movies are added. Path of the Jedi is the worst production I’ve seen at Disney in years. Do not bother waiting in line for it. Just some clips spliced together with a terrible sound track. They have added a new stop on Star Tours. Worth waiting in line for. That milkshake sure looks good.

I was just at DHS on Wednesday, and I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Boba Fett stein! It was advertised all over the Backlot Express when I visited, and I snagged one to go with my chicken and waffles. If you’d like pictures of it, I’d be happy to supply them!

All the new Star Wars stuff is really fun and be aware it is making Hollywood Studios a bit more crowded.
Just a heads up on the TIE fighter popcorn bucket…it breaks VERY, VERY easily. (wings fall off)
In fact when we got ours it was the 5th one picked up by the cast member as the first four were put together wrong and the piece that snaps/connects the wings to the center had already been damaged. Check to see the wings are securely snapped in if you get one because if the wings wobble at all, that inside piece has already snapped. IF yours does break, they will exchange it for a new one.
Looks great, but a horrible design flaw in a $25 piece of plastic.
🙁

How long will they be doing this? Indefinitely? We are going in. March and I hoping this will all be there!
