If your holiday wish list included the opportunity to eat a BURGER at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe once more…
… then, BOOM!! Your wish is granted!
Long heralded as a favorite place to grab a burger and fries in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, Pecos Bill’s caused quite a stir when an all-new menu featuring Mexican fare debuted this past October.
Gone were the familiar Angus Cheeseburger, Veggie Burger, and Barbecue Pork Sandwiches, and suddenly in their place were Burritos, Faijta Platters, and Rice Bowls. (The famous Fixin’s Bar, of course, stayed well in place, though with a spread better suited for the updated fare.)
Though it seems the new menu has been met with more than a few thumbs up, many guests were disappointed to learn that burgers were no longer on the menu.
Until now, that is! With many thanks to DFB Reader Jenny H. for the heads up, we can report that a brand new burger is now up for grabs at Pecos Bill’s: The Southwest Burger, topped with Pepper Jack cheese.
So, yes, the burger is back (albeit changed). The fries? Not so much. The new burger is served with a side of tortilla chips. One more thing: this one’s just for the big kids, as there is no burger option listed on the Kids Menu.
There are a few more changes to note: it appears the Southwest Burger has replaced the Rice Bowl options from the menu makeover. And though Churros are still up for dessert grabs, the Sopaipillas are not.
Fortunately, though, it’s still not too late to get a Country Bears Jug to put under the tree for anyone who has been especially good this year 😉 !
For now, it seems like this is a best-of-both-worlds approach to appease disappointed guests while keeping the new cuisine focus. What’s your take on it? We’d love to hear it…
Are you excited to see a burger back on the menu at Pecos Bill’s? Please let us know with a comment!

While I understand the desire to put a burger option back on the menu, why did they have to remove the rice bowl in order to do it…? We were there in mid-November and had the rice bowl and it was WONDERFUL. Such a nice addition for those of us who don’t want tortillas/shells…! I know we can just toss the tortillas/shells (which is probably what we’ll do), but that seems like such a waste. That all being said, the fixin’s bar is EXCELLENT…! 🙂

I actually heard that the burger is just there for the busy season, so it’s temporary. I also heard that you can still request a rice bowl even though they’re off the menu! Not sure if this is all true or not though.

I hope the rice bowls are still available, as that was the only vegetarian option on the menu!

I had a veggie burrito there in mid December. Pretty tasty for a quick service meal. And I enjoyed the topping bar options.

We were there last week. And even though the rice bowl was not on the menu my wife and daughter were able to ask for it. Don’t know how long that’ll last!
Bring back the fries!!!

I miss the chicken wrap that Pecos Bills use to have 🙁 !

The rice bowl is still available, it’s just no longer on the menu. Just ask the cashier for it like normal. They still have the button for it on their screen, and the kitchen still makes it just like they used to. It’s just not on the menu board any longer.

We really enjoyed the bowls. Disappointed

My wife and I were quite please with the new menu. The fajita platter made a fine lunch for us both. Didn’t miss the burgers at all.

Still disappointed!! This is a temporary appeasement to a permanent problem! Burger with o fries and a Mexican fixins bar means you still have to go to the other side of the park for burgers and fries!!

My selective eater son loved the new chicken fajitas platter but I do think adding back a burger is smart. However, those of us who normally eat vegetarian still need that veggie rice bowl! I notice many Asian guests ordering rice bowls when we were eating there – and piling on the fixings. It should at least be a request option as the ingredients are readily available.

What did they do to this place?? We use to love the chicken ceasar wrap, pork sandwich, etc. Now we don’t go near it. Bring back the old menu!!!!

Glad to have one burger back. Would love to see fries too….

I’m not surprised that the sopaipillas are gone from the menu. My husband and I were SO excited to try them, but we were expecting something more akin to beignets, rather than the weird, dry flaky squares that we got. I was super jealous of all the people with churros and chocolate sauce!

After many years of enjoying a burger topped with a pile of sauteed mushrooms at Pecos Bill’s on every trip, the end has come. Sadly, our favorite C$ location in the Magic Kingdom kingdom is no longer on our list. Kindly bring back burgers with cheddar/american cheese. Pepper jack cheese is not for everyone and neither is Mexican food.

Bring back the burgers–my family always looked forward to the burgers, fries and all the fixins. The new menu is a disappointment. Just glad that they brought back one burger–maybe regular burgers will follow, including the fries!!!!! My family and I’m sure other families hope so…..

HAHAHA
Cries for bringing back burgers…..BURGERS…
Like there aren’t 10 other places where to get them.
Keep it up Disney with new and fun options….

This burger is just sad. It’s more expensive than the old angus deluxe and is missing the bacon, onion ring, and fries. It comes with tortilla chips. WHO DOES THAT? And to make matters worse, they had removed the nacho cheese from the fixin’s bar ( along with my favorites, sauteed mushrooms and onions). My brother had ordered this terrible item while I got the fajita platter. He was not very pleased with it but, who could be at almost $19 with drink. If you do get a burger, don’t do it at Pecos Bill’s anymore. The fajita platter was far from stellar by the way. I’d prefer taco bell ‘steak’ any day of the week.

Sorry, but not surprised, that one of the meat burgers was brought back but not the veggie burger.

Ugh! They’ve destroyed this menu and it gets progressively worse every year. For being the only restaurant in Frontierland they need to offer more than 4 choices. Bring back the chicken Caesar wrap!! Where’s the southwest comfort food like fried chicken, pulled pork?

I miss the old pecos bill, the hamburger bar was sweet .It was a great place, not sure why they changed it.
