Today we’re stopping to check out one of my favorite go-to breakfasts when I’m staying in the Epcot Resort Area at Walt Disney World.
I’m talking about the Cinnamon Roll from BoardWalk Bakery!
It’s crazy…this is one of my favorite quick breakfasts when I’m at Disney, and I was just SURE that I had shared it with you on the blog already! But apparently, I was a whole lot of WRONG on that, so let me enchant you with this awesomeness.
You know that this spot, which you’ll find at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, is home to lots and lots of our favorite treats. I can’t resist their Brownies (although they’ve changed a bit through the years), or their Lemon Meringue Tart. And it’s always fun to stop in and see what new Cupcakes I’ll find. Besides, it’s within walking distance of Epcot, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club, and Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin, making it a perfect pitstop nearly every time I’m in the World.
And while you won’t go wrong with such breakfast dishes as the Breakfast Waffle Cone or pastries like the Jersey Crumb Cake or Brioche Pull-Apart Loaf, this is the one that I return to again and again.
Because FROSTING!!!!!!!!!!
As you can see, it’s no slouch when it comes to size, either. But seriously, the real star here is all. That. Frosting. (And it’s Cream Cheese!)
And here’s my theory about this one. You know how on some cinnamon rolls, they apply the frosting or glaze while it’s still warm, so it gets all melty and sort of becomes one with the pastry? Well, here they do it when it’s warm and melty, but then they seem to add more! So much that the top layers of frosting can’t even melt. I love it. This is how it should always be done. (If you don’t like frosting…or puppies or rainbows…you can just give yours to me.)
But honestly, I’m going to suggest that you get as much frosting as you can. This is a lot, but I’ll admit — I asked for extra. All they can say is no, right? (And usually, they don’t.) Because the flavor here is good, but those ribbons of cinnamon and sugar aren’t particularly butter rich or ooey gooey. In fact, the roll itself is a leeeeetle on the dry side.
But if you’re enjoying the roll with coffee, tea, water, or what have you, then you probably won’t mind so much, because the flavor is spot on, and the texture is still tender and fresh.
Besides. FROSTING.

“Because FROSTING!” is a very compelling argument. I agree on all counts.

In 2012 I got to see WDW for Christmas and for the first and last time enjoyed the Main St. cinnamon roll and Spectacle of Lights! Both were unbelievable and both are GONE! Oh, to enjoy both again.

They are great, and the cream cheese icing I like so much better that regular.
Still isn’t enough for me for breakfast and why I still cannot believe Boardwalk has no counter service offerings available.

Hi, this may seem like a silly question, but I was trying to pick between this Boardwalk cinnamon bun or the Garden Grill breakfast and don’t see this on the menu for Boardwalk, do they not list the full menu on line? or has it changed recently?
Thanks!

They got rid of these amazing ones and replaced them with tiny generic rolls!!! Disney needs to change this back!

My nephew told me about the great cinnamon rolls at the cute Main Street bakery located in the Magic Kingdom in 2012. This cinnamon roll was huge and it was just so soft and fresh, that it pulled apart like a panettone or fresh loaf of really good bread. Delicious and different! I hadn’t eaten all day and this really hit the spot. Then the Main Street bakery became Starbucks. Once this happened I could only get these rolls at Gaston’s pub, but they just aren’t as fresh. I wonder if the cinnamon rolls at the boardwalk bakery are made with the same recipe or not. They certainly are as big as the ones I got at the Magic Kingdom.

We loved these and used to get them every trip but they haven’t had them since post covid! We miss them 😢 and we’ve tried a bunch of the cinnamon rolls all over the parks and resorts and haven’t found anything like them. If anyone knows how to bring them back, please do!!!!
