Okay, let’s face it: construction walls covering up refurbishment areas in Disney World are something we’re pretty used to seeing. They cover everything from the upcoming Frozen Ever After attraction in the former home of Epcot’s Maelstrom to Avatar Land in Animal Kingdom to the ongoing transformation of Disney Springs, and then some.
And we’re bound to spot more and more very soon as Disney’s Hollywood Studios expands to add both Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land.
Still, I can’t say we’ve ever seen any quite like the walls currently surrounding the location formerly known as Toy Story Pizza Planet in Hollywood Studios, which closed last month and isn’t anticipated to reopen until late 2016.
While nothing has been confirmed regarding what’s coming when this space reopens its doors this fall, Disney is blending the walls in with their surroundings — right across from the Muppets 3D attraction and close to the Streets of America backlot. The wacky, punny humor on these very unique construction signs just screams Muppets.
It makes sense that Borough Commissioner Barry Cade would be in charge of this permit.
Oh, and by the way, if you were thinking about posting any bills whatsoever…
…you may want to think again!
I think they get their point across rather well.
What do you think will be replacing Pizza Planet — if anything? Please let us know with a comment!

So in regards to all the construction, can one no longer walk along the back of the park from Muppets to Pixar place?
This park has all of a sudden become a very small place and I wonder how the crowds will be…..

Nice! And yay for silly details! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Thanks for the pics – they really suit. They should get the HS Public Works guys to do a skit about them!

I hope Pizza Planet moves to TSL and this becomes a Muppet restaurant!

As Mike says, it’s going to be pretty hard to get around this park. Like the Muppet restaurant suggestion.

I’ve heard a rumor that this is becoming muppets themed. The walls almost confirm that at least to me. They are the jokes you see all over the muppets attraction and shop. I hope it comes true.

The jokes scream muppet, and the signs point to a New York City theme. The restroom sign matches the font for an NYC subway sign. And the Work Permit copies all the fonts from an NYC construction permit–compare to the image here: http://ownersrepny.com/2011/10/12/nyc-building-permits-what-does-nb-alteration-type-i-ii-iii-and-directive-14-mean/
So I’m hoping for a Muppet themed New York-style diner.

I like what Brian is thinking…maybe a diner like the one where the Muppets worked in the movie Muppets Take Manhattan? That would fit in really well in the NYC area of the Streets of America…and be completely awesome for those of us who remember loving that movie as kids!

Will really miss those Christmas Lights in Hollywood studios
