Though the Rivers of Light evening spectacular coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been delayed indefinitely from its originally scheduled date of April 22nd, nighttime celebrations will be ON at the park as of Memorial Day Weekend.
Animal Kingdom’s first signature restaurant, Tiffins, will open for lunch and dinner along with the adjacent Nomad Lounge on Memorial Day Weekend. Further information regarding the availability of Advance Dining Reservations for Tiffins will be made available on May 20th. (Reservations will not be needed for Nomad Lounge.)
On offer will be global dishes like Berbere-Spiced Lamb Chop with Mustard Greens and Lentil Stew and Mint Chutney representing African cuisine. Berkshire Pork Tenderloin with Huitlacoche Tamale as well as Hominy Succotash and Red Mole Sauce will represent South America, and Miso-glazed Black Cod with Forbidden Rice in Steamed Bok Choy with Turmeric Sauce will represent Asian cuisine. Further information regarding the menu at Tiffins can be found here.
Also set to debut are two new nighttime street festivals, the Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island Carnivale. Both celebrations will feature music and dancing, along with exotic food and beverages.
New nighttime offerings starting Memorial Day Weekend aren’t limited to the above experiences. While Rivers of Light will not debut as planned, Discovery River WILL play host to a limited engagement show. “Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” will honor the latest Disney live film with a celebration of the new movie along with classic songs from the original “Jungle Book,” blended with special effects.
The park’s icon, the Tree of Life, will “Awaken” nightly, with animated images on the tree telling “enchanting stories from nature.”
Guests will also be able to enjoy Kilimanjaro Safaris After Dark as well as other park attractions like Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids during the night for the first time, along with DinoLand U.S.A.’s midway games and attractions.
