If you’ve been keeping up on all the latest food news in Walt Disney World with us here at the DFB, then you know that the latter half of May brought all kinds of additions to the Disney dining scene!
And the arrival of the summer season also brings expanded food options to feed the increasing crowds at the parks and beyond, so our tour will include all sorts of updates, changes, and additions – both big and small – as we check out What’s New around Walt Disney World!
Magic Kingdom
We’re kicking things off with a celebration of all things DORY in honor of the Finding Dory film making its debut on June 17th! Find these Nemo and Dory Caramel Apples at Big Top Treats (you can also find them at Candy Cauldron in Disney Springs West Side and at Marceline’s in Disneyland).
Plenty of fun new merchandise heralds the arrival of the movie, too. These mugs found at major merchandise stops around the parks are just one example.
And here’s a fun find for all the Popcorn peeps! Some seriously fun new flavors of Main Street Popcorn have hit the scene, like Butter Toffee Almond, Sriracha Kettle Corn, Maple Bacon, and Truffle. Yowza!
But it doesn’t stop there! Your inner Popcorn Connoisseur can also try Kettle Corn with Red Alaea Salt, Parmesan Garlic, or CHURRO!
We spotted these at The Confectionery, but keep an eye out for them at snack and merchandise spots all over Disney World.
Congratulations to Marie from The AristoCats, who has earned a place of honor on a Disney World Character Lollipop
Stop by Main Street Bakery to find the new Mickey Mouse Cupcake!
This chocolate cupcake topped with chocolate buttercream and wafer ears is the new neighbor of the vanilla Donald Duck Butt Cupcake.
Should you find the seasonally open Tomorrowland Terrace operating during your visit (which will be more likely during the busy summer season), you’ll also find several new items on the menu.
These include sandwiches like Spicy Chicken, Pulled Pork Banh Mi, and Smoked Sausage. Even the ol’ Angus Bacon Cheeseburger got an upgrade with a Pretzel Bun!
Coconut Tres Leches Cake and a Rocky Road Brownie make up the new dessert options.
Look for our review of these new eats — and more — soon!
The addition of Main Street Electrical Parade Lunch Packages isn’t the only new thing at Tony’s Town Square.
A Fish of the Day entrée has been added along with Cannoli for dessert (which took the place of the Crème Brulee).
Epcot
The Land Pavilion is offering a heartfelt “Welcome back” to the Soarin’ attraction with this Orange Soarin’ Cupcake at Sunshine Seasons!
In its earliest returning weeks, guests have experienced the original – or “classic” – Soarin’ film. But June 17th marks the debut of Soarin’ Around the World with all new adventures!
And now that the headliner attraction is back in The Land Pavilion, Sunshine Seasons has amped up the breakfast menu to match the crowds that will be lining up to soar once more.
Look for Cinnamon French Toast Bread Pudding and a Breakfast Panini among the new options.
Temps are warming rapidly here in Florida, so you may want to cool down at Cool Wash, where adults can now order up their choice of Frozen Beverage with Grey Goose Vodka, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, or Captain Morgan’s Original Spiced Rum.
The Frozen Ever After attraction opens on June 21st in the Norway Pavilion, along with Royal Sommerhus — the new Frozen Meet and Greet location!
Along with that major change comes another… to the menu at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, which is now featuring one all-day menu (as opposed to the previous lunch vs. dinner offerings; breakfast, of course, still has its own menu).
More changes have come to the selections at China’s Lotus Blossom Cafe! Sichuan Spicy Chicken has replaced the Beijing Noodles, and a Mongolian Style Beef Noodle entrée is also now available (instead of the previous Beef Noodle Soup Bowl).
Don’t forget that the Prix Fixe three-course lunch is still an option through the summer at Tutto Italia in the Italy Pavilion.
It includes choice of appetizer, entrée, dessert, and a non-alcoholic beverage for $27 and will be on offer through August 31st.
A new Lobster Appetizer has also been added to the menu for lunch and dinner, and a Rack of Lamb is now available for dinner only.
The celebration continues in Italy, where Via Napoli recently served its One Millionth Pizza!
They’re also now serving an Affumicata Pizza (a white pizza topped with mozzarella, smoked salmon, arugula, pomodorini, and stracchino).
Fans of Kakigori – the Japanese Shaved Ice found at Kabuki Cafe — may be interested to hear about the new Sake Mists!
These alcoholic Shaved Ice flavors are for grownups only, featuring Blood Orange, Chocolate Cherry, and Coffee.
New choices can also be found among the cocktails at the nearby outdoor Sake Bar.
The Cucumber Cooler and Spicy Mango Sake are recent additions to the menu, along with the Rising Sun (which is beer with a shot of sake).
You can now recharge your phone while you’re recharging with a margarita at La Cava del Tequila in the Mexico Pavilion, according to the @cavadeltequila Twitter account.
And lastly, the Refreshment Cool Post is now serving the Outpost Oasis.
It’s Lemon Soft-serve and Grey Goose Vodka.
Hollywood Studios
A blueberry and vanilla Finding Dory Cupcake will be swimming into Counter Service spots like the Trolley Car Café, Rosie’s All-American Cafe, Fairfax Fare, and Starring Rolls.
The Trolley Car is also serving up Vegetable Rolls these days.
At Catalina Eddie’s, a Meat Lovers Pizza has replaced the flatbread.
And all sorts of new Counter Service options are now available at Echo Lake Eats!
This group of three kiosks located around Echo Lake – Hollywood Waffles of Fame, Sliders to the Stars, and Bocados del Lago Nachos y Empanadas – will be serving guests at Hollywood Studios through the summer.
Check out our review of the new options — including the Shaved Turkey and Gouda Waffle Sandwich pictured below!
Our final Studios stop is The Hollywood Brown Derby where a Roasted Rack of Lamb and Pork Three Ways can now be found on the menu.
A Marinated Shrimp Skewer has also enhanced the enhancement options at the Derby.
Animal Kingdom
Not much has happened at Animal Kingdom since our last round of What’s New.
Unless you want to count the fact that Memorial Day Weekend rang in all-new nighttime offerings to the previously day-only park! And the arrival of Tiffins, the park’s first Signature restaurant!
And this guy! (Read all about him-or-her here!)
Oh, and Nomad Lounge is Disney World’s latest bar. (Find out why we love it!)
There are also TWO new evening street parties – the Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island Carnivale.
The park’s very first nighttime show, The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic, made its debut.
And new snacks — like an updated Tree of Life Cupcake in honor of the tree’s new nighttime colors — and souvenir steins are on offer to celebrate all the new adventures at Animal Kingdom!
But that’s it, really.
Disney Springs
When we published our last round of What’s New, we were anxiously anticipating the opening of several new eateries all over Disney Springs… and now they’re up and running! From Counter Service and snack spots like D-Luxe Burger, Amorette’s Patisserie, Sprinkles, and Morimoto Asia Street Food…
… to fine dining establishments like STK Orlando.
Four new kiosks up the options even further: The Daily Poutine, YeSake, B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co., and AristoCrepes!
They’re all yours to choose from and enjoy on your next visit to Disney Springs!
Soon we’ll be turning our attention to some eagerly anticipated restaurants opening this summer, with Frontera Cocina by Rick Bayless and Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine by Chef Art Smith among them.
We can’t wait to see what these new venues bring to the ever-expanding dining scene at Disney Springs!
Disney’s Boardwalk
Last month we also welcomed Ample Hills Creamery — and their ridiculously decandent housemade ice cream – to the Boardwalk!
And don’t forget that right next door at the ESPN Club, select soccer games are being broadcast through July 10th. For select early morning matches, the restaurant is open at 8:30 am and serving a few traditional breakfast options.
The spot is also now accepting Advance Dining Reservations for lunch on Mondays through Fridays.
Well, that’s it for this round! But you know it’s never quiet for long around these parts, so well be back soon to show you What’s New. So until next time… Thanks for Soarin’ with us!
Have you spotted anything new during a recent trip around the World? We’d love to hear about it in a comment!
Essie says
I love these reports! I will def be trying the Ample Hills Creamery and Boardwalk pizza on my next trip.
Sarah says
So, you’re telling me that the Pistachio Creme Brulee, the only reason I was remotely excited about visiting Tony’s Town Square, is gone? Shoot.
Patricia C says
Only 84 days to go and I’m already salivating. Can’t wait to try daily poutine, get my ample hills fix, or try out the new snacks in DHS. I’m also loving all the adult beverage options! I just hope it doesn’t create any atmosphere where people are having more than their capable of handling… But I’m sure Disney thought of that ahead of time, and knows how to avoid that. Can’t wait to get down there!!!!
Mike V says
Hey Patricia….you know how they avoid it…..look at what they charge!!!!
Patricia C says
Very true Mike V!!! Sadly those are actually better prices than what they charge for drinks here in NYC..but you’re right, it will definitely curb over-imbibers!
