Summer is most definitely upon us…and it’s time to share a little Summer magic!
While I would argue that ANY time of year is the perfect time for ice cream, it’s especially true when the temps are at their highest in Central Florida.
So when the craving hits while you’re in the Magic Kingdom, then I know just the place for you: the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor!
Just head on over to the corner of Main Street, U.S.A., right next door to The Plaza Restaurant.
The Plaza locations greet you just before the turn-of-the-century charm of Main Street transitions into the retro-futuristic vision of Tomorrowland.
But the old-fashioned curb appeal of the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor can still be seen in everything from the vintage-style fonts and pastel colors used to decorate this Counter Service spot…
… right down to the dapper costumes on the Cast Members.
The menu is exactly what you’d expect, featuring ice cream treats like simple cones as well as the spot’s signature sundaes: The “Plaza” (a hot fudge sundae in a waffle bowl) and the All-American (for chocolate-and-peanut-butter fans).
Hand-scooped flavor choices include Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mint Chocolate-Chip, and Cookies ‘n Cream. Raspberry Sorbet and Butter Pecan are the No-Sugar-Added options, and it’s good to know that both Tofutti and Rice Dream are available as well.
My most recent obsession here, by the way, is the opportunity to add Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, or Caramel topping to any concoction on the menu for and additional 69 cents, resulting – for me, anyway – in the epic Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich with Warm Peanut Butter.
But I was in the mood for a classic on my last visit, so I went with the Mickey Mouse Kid’s Cone. Because who doesn’t feel like a kid when eating an ice cream cone? Your choice of flavors – or my choice 😉 , which in this case was Mint Chocolate-Chip – is capped off with two chocolate wafers to create Mickey Ears.
Boy, does this ever hit the spot on a hot day: minty, chocolate-y, cool, refreshing… with those ears making this cone a quintessential Disney summer treat. It’s just the thing to carry out the door as you take in the view of something that is also quintessentially Disney…
I think you can see why a stop at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor remains a great Main Street, U.S.A. tradition!
Is the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor a Magic Kingdom must-stop for you? Please let us know with a comment!

16 or 17 trips and I’ve never been here! I’ll plan to correct this with something in a Mickey kitchen sink!!!!!

Love the Kid’s cone! For messy people *cough*, they will give you a cup as well for your cone! 🙂
