Now that we’re thinking about the holidays, let’s explore one of my favorite Tips from the Holiday Guide — How to budget your TIME during the busy Holiday Season at Walt Disney World!
Plan, Plan, Plan
It may seem kinda like a no brainer. But if ever there is a time to plan you play and play your plan, it’s the holidays at WDW.
Leave no stone unturned. But how can you find out just what’s happening? In the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays, we offer a list of events and activities so that you can get a good idea of what to expect before you hit the ground running. The list is invaluable as you plan each daily adventure.
And don’t forget to book those advance dining reservations early! They fill up fast — especially fan favorites, like Be Our Guest Restaurant, Chef Mickey’s, and California Grill.
Go Early, Stay Late
Set that alarm, and be prepared to throw that bedtime out the window. In order to make the most of your time at Walt Disney World, be prepared to go early, stay up late — or both.
There can be a real advantage to booking your early advance dining reservation for a park breakfast. Not only will you enjoy some of the best experiences, like character interaction with Winnie the Pooh and Friends at Crystal Palace. But also keep in mind that early breakfast means earlier access to the Parks. It’s a great time to get early morning pictures. And you just may beat the crowds to some of the big attractions at the back of the park (I’m talking about you, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train).
Staying late is another great strategy. In fact, spending early morning and late night in the parks, with a break in the middle of the day for resort activities just might be the way to go. But there’s another factor to consider…
Know About Park Closures
If you haven’t visited Disney at high capacity times of the year, then you may not be aware that sometimes, Disney Parks must close because they have reached capacity. However, to ease the inconvenience of the move, Disney takes a phased approach to park closures.
For instance, in Phase 1, ticket sales at the park near capacity stop temporarily. In Phase 2, Guests staying at a WDW resort hotel, with an Annual Pass, park-hopping from another park, holding a reservation, or arriving via Disney transportation are allowed in the parking lot and turnstiles. Phases continue to limit guest entrance until capacity is reached.
The good news is that the parks rarely stay closed for more than a few hours. But knowing about when and how parks typically arrive at capacity is good to know during the busy season. We spell it all out for you in the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays.
