It’s high time once again for some sweet eats at Trolley Treats!
On my most recent trip to Disney California Adventure, I thought it was finally time to review two sweets sitting side by side in most Disneyland candy cases that tend to fly under the radar: the Dark Chocolate Peppermint Pattie and the Coconut Pattie.
“AJ,” you might ask,”Why don’t they spell the word ‘patty’ correctly on these signs?” Well, dear reader, I have no idea. Let’s not forget that for many a season Disney spelled “macaron” as “macaroon” in its candy and bakery cases. So there are things we just can’t explain.
First up — the coconut patt”ie” with its sprinkling of coconut to differentiate it from the Peppermint Pattie in the case, and to give you a hint as to what you’ll find inside.
Because the ONLY thing you’ll find inside is one thick layer of pure, sweet coconut, with just enough cream and sugar to bind it, and nothing else.
It’s like you’ve died and gone to Coconut Heaven. Seriously, it’s plain and simple, but so so rich. The perfect treat for a coconut lover.
Now, I know what you may be thinking about the next offering: why buy a Dark Chocolate Peppermint Pattie at Trolley Treats when I can get a regular store-bought York variety Peppermint Pattie just about anywhere?
Well, lemme tell ya. Actually, let me show you…
Just look at that layer of solid dark chocolate surrounding the cool mint filling. It’s laid on thick, offering more bittersweet chocolate to balance the mint, along with a more satisfying snap of a crunch.
These two different sweets share this in common: they’re underrated due to their simplicity, but they are seriously SO good.
Give one — or better yet, both! — a try on your next trip to Trolley Treats! And don’t forget that you can probably find them over at Candy Palace, Pooh Corner, and Marceline’s as well on most days.
Pin it for later!

I was just there last week. I saw these when I glanced in Marceline’s, went ‘ooh – I’ll be back for them’ – them totally forgot to pick them up! *pulls a million sad faces*

Was just at Disneyland this past week. Bought a dozen at $4.99/each. They only had the peppermint patties. Brought them home. They are so worth the cost, but I wish they had the coconut ones, too!
