Another new…ish restaurant is coming to Disney Springs! Portobello in Disney Springs closed its doors on April 24, and the space will reopen later this year as a new restaurant.
The space is set to undergo a multi-million dollar, large-scale renovation before the new eatery opens this fall.
James Beard award-winner and Top Chef Master Tony Mantuano, who also was the master chef of Portobello, is heading the development of the new restaurant. When it reopens this fall the restaurant’s menu will feature “dishes inspired by Chef Tony’s adventures across the many regions of Italy.” …Which Portobello did as well.
Regarding the closure, Andy Lansing, President and CEO of Levy Restaurants said, “We’ve been grateful to serve our loyal guests at Portobello for the last seven years. We look forward to welcoming our guests back to the location early this fall when we unveil a new concept at Disney Springs.”
There is no word on an official opening date for the new restaurant.
So, overall, for us this doesn’t sound all that different from what’s there now. Portobello Italian Country Trattoria featured Italian dishes by Chef Tony Mantuano…so…what’s the big deal? Well, we’re not sure yet. But we’ll let you know when we figure it out.
What do you think about Portobello closing to make room for a “new” restaurant? Leave a comment and let us know.
