Pandora – The World of Avatar
at Disney’s Animal Kingdom opens May 27, and we’re learning a little more about the dining options in the new land.
When Pandora opens a new fast-casual restaurant, Satu’li Canteen, and a new drink station called Pongu Pongu will also open in the land. And Disney has released a few more details about what guests can expect when dining in Pandora.
Satu’li Canteen is a former RDA (Resources Development Administration) Mess Hall located inside a Quonset-hut structure. These days, the Canteen offers a peaceful dining experience for travelers to Pandora and is run by Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE). The restaurant will offer 330 seats indoors and an additional 190 outside seats.
The menu at Satu’li Canteen is inspired by the “healthful bounty” on Pandora and will feature “wholesome grains, fresh vegetables, and hearty proteins.” The centerpiece of the dining room in this fast-casual location is an on-stage grill that will “bring all five senses into play” according to Disney.
Guests at Satu’li Canteen can customize their Canteen Bowls with a base of quinoa and vegetable salad; red and sweet potato hash; mixed whole-grain and rice; or romaine and kale salad. Wood-grilled chicken, slow-roasted beef, sustainable fish or chili-spiced fried tofu can be added, and the bowls are topped with harred onion chimichurri, black bean vinaigrette, or creamy herb dressing.
Other menu options at the Canteen include Cheeseburger Steamed Pods or Vegetable Curry Steamed Pods served with root vegetable chips and crunchy vegetable slaw. The kids menu includes grilled chicken or beef, fish or tofu with greens or rice; a hot dog wrapped in Parker House dough; cheese quesadilla, or a cheeseburger bao bun.
Desserts at Satu’li Canteen are Blueberry Cheesecake with Passion Fruit Curd or Chocolate Cake with a Crunchy Cookie, Banana Cream and Goji Berries.
The Satu’li Canteen is the first Disney World restaurant to offer Mobile Order for guests. Mobile Order, which will be accessible via the My Disney Experience app, will allow guests to order and pay for meals at Satu’li Canteen on-the-go, subsequently bypassing the ordering queue upon arrival. Not only will guests be able to select their menu items of choice, they’ll also be able to customize their order as well as prepay for their meal.
Pongu Pongu is the new drink kiosk adjacent to Satu’li Canteen. The name means “party party” in Na’vi and the watering hole is said to be “as eclectic as its Expat owner.”
The signature drink at Pongu Pongu is the Frozen Nectar, a mix of frozen limeade with layered flavors of Granny Smith Apple and Desert Pear topped with bursting mango boba balls.
Other beverages include the Screaming Banshee Margarita and Avatar Private Label Ale. Drinks will be available in a tiki-inspired mug with an Avatar “juju” light up cube. Guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with the Lumpia – a pineapple, cream cheese spring roll.
With so much good food and unique beverages we can’t wait to dine in Pandora!
