Every once in a while you’ve gotta go back to the classics.
Let’s head over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Oasis Canteen!
You’ll find this unassuming little kiosk in the back of Studios, near the Indiana Jones attraction.
Ice cream treats are the norm for this place. But at least once in the past, they took us by surprise when they offered a selection of savory options. That was mostly during a busy season when more eats were needed around the park, and since then ice cream and classic treats have returned.
In fact, the menu has changed very little from long ago visits — except that the prices have gone up. 😀 There are also a couple of grown up floats to try here — both root beer and dreamsicle versions — that include Stoli Vanilla vodka.
With all the changes taking place at DHS, who knows what will come next to Oasis? So let’s enjoy a favorite classic while we can! It’s funnel cake time.
You can get your funnel cake sprinkled with powdered sugar, of course. Or opt for cinnamon sugar, which offers you flavors and textures similar to a giant churro.
Or you could go for something a little more impressive, like the funnel cake with strawberry topping and soft serve vanilla ice cream. And that’s what we did.
Here, you get a huge, freshly-made funnel cake topped off with strawberry topping, vanilla soft serve, chocolate drizzle, and powdered sugar. (This one is almost the size of Disneyland Hungry Bear funnel cakes. That never happens at WDW.)
There is plenty of strawberry topping, and the sauce has large, whole strawberry pieces mixed in as well.
The funnel cake itself is freshly made, so it’s crunchy and tender and warm.
This snack is seriously enormous and completely shareable between two to four people. And for the current price of $8.19 — or a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit! — are you serious? Definitely use your snack credit if you can.
But just to recap, the funnel cakes are made fresh at Oasis Canteen, so they’re served warm. And when you add warm funnel cake + soft serve, it equals a dish that is super messy in a matter of minutes. Find a wall to sit on, or head to Min & Bill’s or Backlot Expres super quick, because this one doesn’t travel well.
Still, that mix of hot and cold, crunchy and creamy — totally worth the mess as far as I’m concerned!

Am I the only one that can’t stand the awful sweet smell of Funnel Cakes? It’s too much for me.
DianeN says
You’re not alone, Hannah! I like the taste of funnel cake well enough but the overwhelming smell coming from the booths makes me sick to my stomach, so I never buy them.
DebC says
I like funnel cakes, but I’m a purist. Powdered sugar only that I can eat with my hands. I can’t even imagine on trying to eat that mess. The funnel cake would be like mush once you got to the middle.

I had the strawberry and soft serve funnel cake a few days ago on my visit to Hollywood Studios and I have to say YUM!! It didn’t come with chocolate drizzle, just the strawberry topping, which included berry pieces and the soft serve. I think I prefer this. I am old school powdered sugar break it up and eat it with your hands, but decided to give it a try. So great. Definitely shareable and If you can get it for a snack credit on the dining plan…a great deal. It was only 65, so quick melting wasn’t a big issue. The funnel stayed mostly crispy until I got to the nucleus, but it was soaked in strawberry and melty ice cream and I didn’t mind that it got a bit soggy. I was by myself so it was late afternoon snack and dinner. Highly recommend!!
