We’ve been spending a lot of time — like, A LOT — at Animal Kingdom lately. No real surprise there, as it’s home to the brand new land, Pandora — The World of AVATAR. But while entire new lands are always the biggest news, that doesn’t mean things aren’t happening all over the World.
So we thought we’d take a little trip to the Magic Kingdom today!
Of course, you likely already know that Happily Ever After, the new nighttime spectacular, is lighting up the night for Magic Kingdom guests!
The show is a hit, with high crowds still pouring in to see it. Know what else is a hit? The Light Up Cotton Candy which you can grab at a nearby Popcorn Cart to go with the show!
Over in Fantasyland, Cheshire Cafe is serving up a new signature item: the Cheshire Cat Tail!
They’re essentially Chocolate Danish Twists, decorated with stripes of icing colored to resemble — of course — the Cheshire Cat.
Everyone is excited to get one! And I do mean EVERYONE.
Now, I’m not sure if Tigger himself needs any caffeine (he’s naturally bouncy!).
But if YOU do, take note that Cold Brew Coffee is now on the menu above, too.
Prince Eric is serving up the new Pretzel Royale at his Village Market.
Well, it’s new to Magic Kingdom, that is.
You may already know it as the Jumbo Pretzel from Epcot’s Germany Pavilion.
Look for the Under the Sea Treat — which is actually a cupcake — here, too.
Just down the way, Gaston is entertaining his adoring guests with the Tavern’s Trio of Macarons.
Choices are either Pistachio, Raspberry, and Lemon, or Chocolate, Vanilla, and Coffee.
Though you can find the Kingdom of Cute Vinylmation series in Disney Springs (in the Marketplace Co-Op) or in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District, the line is certainly appropriate to feature in a post about Magic Kingdom.
Here’s why:
We were after the Popcorn (read the vintage box story here!) and Dole Whip, naturally.
But we got a second Castle.
It’s the thrill of the hunt, folks!
We had to “settle” for a REAL Dole Whip instead 😉 …
… in the form of a Dole Whip Float at Aloha Isle, which you can currently get in a Souvenir Skull Mug!
You can find almost the same mug at Tortuga Tavern, where it’s filled with a Frozen Fruit Punch Slushy. (Again, I said, “almost.” Find out the differences between the two Skull Mugs here.)
Here’s one more new thing you can find at Tortuga Tavern: the Tortuga Island Dessert!
This surprisingly tasty treat is a chocolate almond cake topped with a red caramel dome, surrounded by blue whipped cream.
Candied sunflower seeds and chocolate gold coins are the finishing touches. Yep, this looks super weird. We thought so, too. But it’s actually REALLY good.
We actually snagged this Pirate Cake Pop at the Main Street Bakery.
But clearly it’s custom made for an Adventureland photo op!
Pizza Frusta has hit the futuristic scene in Tomorrowland!
Stop by Cool Ship for this folded pizza-on-the-go, available in pepperoni and sausage or cheese.
Cool down with a Sno-Cone at the Tomorrowland Snack Cart, post-Frusta.
Flavor options are Cherry, Blue Raspberry, Grape, and Rainbow.
Now, we have’t tried it… yet.
But you should know that Plaza Restaurant has added Baked Honey-Barbecued Brisket Mac and Cheese to the menu.
So… GET THAT.
Wait. So you’re saying that’s not enough Magic Kingdom for you? Well then, here are a few more scenes…
… from the Most Magical Place on Earth!
We’ll see you real soon!
What new item would you most like to try in Magic Kingdom? Please let us know with a comment!

The sweet treats look yummy, but the folded pizza on the go….not so much! I love the cute little castle. They should sell them as car antenna toppers!

BTW, this was a very enjoyable report! Thanks!

I wonder if that Plaza Mac and cheese will be a good substitute for the pot roast mac and cheese that Friar’s Nook no longer has (still upset about that!).
Jeanette says
I love you site. No one else comes close to your quality, in-depth reviews. If I ate everything you review, I’d weigh 300 pounds!
Ron says
These are the best kind of reports! All positive and what a great look at what’s happening in magic kingdom food-wise 🙂 thanks and hope to see more like this soon! (Maybe Epcot next????…eh???)

Are the macarons a snack credit?
Brooke says
Ron — We do (usually) monthly “What’s New” posts in which we give an overview about everything new we’ve seen recently. Here’s our latest. We should have another post for you soon! 😀
Brooke says
Jeanette — Thank you so much for your kind words! We work hard to bring you the best, and we’re so glad it’s helpful! (And we totally agree about the perils of this job! 😀 )
Brooke says
Karen — We are right there with you! It’s always a shame when a good mac and cheese goes by the wayside :-/
Kristina says
As weird as it looks, the description of the Tortuga dessert sounds awesome-lay yummy.
Are the macarons at Gaston’s the same as the patisserie at Epcot?
Dylan says
Awesome article and great sounding and looking goodies! The Tortuga dessert looks so good!
Jessica says
Went to tortuga today and they said they aren’t carrying that dessert anymore :[

I read your blog daily, however as we only visit WDW once a year, I try not to get too giddy about what I read as there’s no guarantee it’s be available on my next visit in December. I’m hoping the cheshire cat tail is still there in December, fingers crossed.
Brooke says
NurseJackie — Thank you for reading everyday, and I’m so glad to read your comments often! We’ll cross our fingers for you, too! Cheshire Cafe has needed something special since they saw fit to get rid of the cake cups.
Brooke says
Kristina — They’re similar, but I don’t think they’re the same.

Do you know if the kingdom of cute figures are available at Disneyland as we will be visiting there in August. I’ve just shown my nine year old daughter the pictures on here, she nearly deafened me with her squeals over their extreme cuteness..

The best thing for us at Gastons was the pork hock! It perfectly fit the Gaston tavern and was a full , delicious meal. Much better than a turkey leg and great for sharing. So sorry that only sweets are there now. Gaston would be horrified at french danties!
