I know, I know: you’re still catching your breath after our whirlwind 2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival coverage… ‘cuz so am I. But did you know that just days before the Festival kicked off, I spent some quality time on the west coast, too? (Well, you did if you follow me on Instagram!)
Yep! I went to Disneyland! And of course my trip included a stop at Paradise Pier in Disney California Adventure.
This super fun, boardwalk-themed area is full of lights, music, laughter, and mega-good eats. We’re talking Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, Bayside Brews, and the famous Corn Dog Castle, for starters! Ariel’s Grotto offers Character Dining, and you’ll also find Paradise Garden Grill, where you can nosh on Mediterranean-inspired skewers, PLUS my very favorite spot: Cove Bar (where you can check out the Secret Menu!).
But on this visit I had my sights set on something a little sweeter. Enter Paradise Pier Ice Cream Co.!
First things first: sometime next year, the Paradise Pier area is going to be rebranded as Pixar Pier, so we can’t promise that the Paradise Pier Ice Cream Company will remain untouched — though I kinda hope so, right down to the neon ice cream cone that lights up the top.
The classic neon represents a bygone era of boardwalk glory — and the menu is similarly simple! You’ll find Soft Serve Ice Cream, Floats, Soft Drinks, and Coffee. And that’s all she wrote.
No snazzy flavors here — just the quintessential chocolate, vanilla, and swirl (that’s my jam). Look at this beautiful beast! It’s a classic.
No matter how much new stuff appears on menus in any of the Disney Parks, it’s pretty hard to beat the simplicity of this treat.
Sweet, frozen, swirly: you know you want one, too!

I’m afraid soft serve isn’t for me nowadays. When I was a kid it was all you could get but now with the abundance of flavours available in scooped ice cream, I wouldn’t go back to soft serve again, it’s just not for me.

I love dipped flavors, too, but on and off I love a soft serve! Even though I’m a chocoholic, I love plainqEef vanilla with or without choc jimmies!
