I’ve been to both places for breakfast. We loved the characters at Chef Mickey’s both times as well as the monorail and all of the shops, but in 2012, the food wasn’t nearly as good as in 2007. The resort decor was wonderful in 2012, however, as it was Christmas!
The CP is my favorite must go to spot for every trip! They have that Puffy French Toast which is crispy, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. I don’t know anywhere you can get this and I love it. I’ve been there every trip and it never disappoints!

We ate at both recently, Mickey’s for dinner and CP for breakfast and I enjoyed Mickey’s much more. The characters were much more engaging at Chef Mickey’s. At CP it took well over 1.5 hrs to meet the characters and you could tell they just wanted to be away. Children were coming from across the restaurant because they were so slow (which was not because they were spending lots of time with guests, it seemed they went on break 15 min on and 15 min off). The Pooh characters just did not seem like they liked their jobs or the attention, making it a mediocre experience. As mentioned the food is standard breakfast buffet. We did like the adult food at Chef Mickey’s signifantly better (not pictured in this video). It is a buffet but there is a lot more variety than we had at CP (though that could be due to breakfast vs dinner). I know tha CP is older, but perhaps it’s due for some refurbishment. When we were there in October it seemed a bit run down/dirty. This also could be due to more traffic in the park.

I have dined at both for breakfast and dinner, and you are correct about the food for breakfast. But if you are not a local (I am Not) I think CP is much better for some of the reasons you gave. The one thing I would say as my personal preference is the KEY LIME pie at CP is fantastic, and f the desserts at CP are much better overall.

Hint…one of your complaints at Chef Mickey’s was it was loud… being hard of hearing we told the Hostess this…and they put us way in the back against the windows over looking the Magic Kingdom…the View was fantastic..and the noise level was acceptable..the bad/good .part it was near the door to the Kitchen…but no other guests went by either..
