Coming soon, we’ll have a new escape in Disney Springs… Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar & Restaurant!
And we got to check it out at a Media Event which began with a dedication for Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante!
Actually, perhaps I should say we’ll have an old escape once the Hideaway opens…
You see, Enzo is the husband of Maria, and together — as the story goes — this immigrant couple from Italy used to operate a small bakery in the Air Terminal for the town of Disney Springs in the 1930s. Once the terminal closed, they opened Pizza Ponte. The residents of Disney Springs loved the pizza-by-the-slice shop so much that its success gave Maria and Enzo the opportunity to purchase the entire closed terminal, transforming it into Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante.
While transforming the terminal, Enzo made a discovery: a network of former rum-running tunnels underneath the Ristorante and Pizza Ponte, which served as a bootleggers hangout during the dry years of the Prohibition era.
Enzo decided to bring back this former hot spot of Disney Springs for those in the know so we can enjoy it today!
He also chose to retain much of the original decor of the place, which includes signage and detailed graffiti on the walls from the old bootleggers that used to haunt the spot dating back to 1919.
Though there are some modern-day touches as well 😉 .
The spot is so richly detailed — right down to the aged appearance of the flooring — that it really does seem as though you are stepping back in time. Pretty incredible.
Once open, the Tunnel Bar will boast unique craft cocktails and a bar featuring the largest selection of “antique” and specialty rums on property.
But even though the Hideaway is indeed a lounge, food will play no small part.
In fact, the “and Restaurant” was added to the name of Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar and Restaurant after it was announced, indicating that the Roman-inspired menu will offer more than small bites. You can even make reservations to visit Enzo’s via Opentable.com for dates starting January 29, 2018.
Special Events will present additional opportunities for culinary enjoyment with Enzo’s Sunday Supper.
The Supper will be hosted at a large built-in table where guests will be able to bring their own wine with no corkage fee!
And once a month, the hard-ticketed Smugglers Series will have its own menu and creative cocktails.
Tickets will be released online at enzoshideawayfla.com once available.
We’re still awaiting more information regarding the regular menu at Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar and Restaurant, as well as the official opening date (which, whenever it happens sometime this month, will likely be preceded by soft openings). But what I’ve seen so far makes me really hopeful for this new lounge and restaurant in Disney Springs. How about you?

I’ll be there late January and have made reservations for mid-afternoon. I have lunch reservations at Homecomin’ that day and really just want to see this place and get a drink. I hate to take someone’s ability to eat there just to get a drink though. Please let me know your thoughts about whether a reservation is necessary for this once you know more!

This place looks great. Looked like some Hamon Iberico hanging up… that would be sweet. Hope their craft cocktail are on point. Really isn’t a truly proper cocktail bar in Disney yet.

Being claustrophobic, I doubt I’d be able to step foot in there! No windows, tunnels…no way.

We will be there in February, and will have our 11 and 13 yr olds with us. I know Edison is adults only after 10pm. What about Hideaway? I would love to be able to check this out!

We have a reservation there for about 15 people in a few weeks. Will it give a nice experience for us all at a decent price? Last time we all went to DS, we ate at Gloria Estefan’s restaurant and danced during dinner too.
