Now, you may have already heard us talking about some of our favorite Disney World Resorts. But what about those that are… not so much? Though there really is something to enjoy about every Resort in Disney World (since the Magic is everywhere!), with dozens of them on Disney World property… well, some of them are bound to land on the bottom of the list. Find out which Resorts may not climb to the top.

I agree with several of your points, AJ! Although I love the GF at Christmas, and also for afternoon tea and the Cinderella dinner, I would not enjoy staying there. I would like, however, to stay at the Poly a couple times. I don’t know if I’ll ever go to the All Stars, because I love AoA and Pop. I also love the Caribbean Beach, but not when it’s under construction!!!!!!!!!!
The only one of these I’ve stayed at is Caribbean Beach, pre-renovations and I still wasn’t impressed. Some of your criticisms of GF apply here too: weather, a shuttle ride to refill your mug, etc. And while its not that far out from the parks, the shuttle/transportation system can be tedious and slow. Maybe it will all be different after the construction/with the gondolas, but I think it remains to be seen.
Totally agree on Caribbean Beach. We stayed there in November. The resort was a total mess and our room was a dark cave.
I have to say, I love Saratoga, and yes, there is a TON of walking. I ALWAYS request a room in the building I prefer that is closest to all the things I need to get to. But honestly, I enjoy the walking. It’s a good way for me to force myself to get some exercise, when I’m otherwise eating all kinds of calorie laden deliciousness in the parks =)
Keep in mind though, Saratoga is a vacation club resort, and in similar fashion to Old Key West (formerly the Disney Vacation Club resort), its meant to be your “home away from home” moreso than say, GF or the Poly. You’re supposed to feel like you’re coming “home” when you stay here… so parking for your car in front of your building, larger rooms, full kitchens with laundry in the one bedrooms, etc. I find the rooms at Saratoga felt a bit bigger than GF or the Contemporary, but I have not actually fact checked that. It is definitely a markedly different experience, but if you’re a DVC member I feel its a great location to Disney Springs ,and if you golf it cant be beat either.
I personally don’t love Saratoga Springs, but my mom likes it a lot for the ability to walk over to Disney Springs. That said, she would never stay there without renting a car so she can drive to stuff, and I don’t particularly like it because I’ve spent so much time just lost on that massive property.
I love the Grand Floridian. The walking outside doesn’t bother me, It’s actually something I kind of like. I grew up in a very harsh climate, so the opportunity to walk outside and be warm was a treat as a kid. Now, I live in a gulf-coast state, so the weather is not that different from Florida and it doesn’t bother me. I can see how this might bother others though.
I’m going to be staying at Caribbean Beach later this week. At the time when we booked it, we knew there would be a lot of construction and we booked with a very deep discount from a pin code. I’ve never stayed there before, but I figured it would work as a place to crash in between trips to the Festival of the Arts. With how much the room was discounted, I kind of doubt we’ll feel it wasn’t worth what we paid, but I’m interested to see what the experience is during this transition.
Have you even ever stayed at Grand Floridian? This review has almost nothing to do with food. Grand Floridian is the best resort on property – only thing better is the Four Seasons. Why would you post such misleading junk… perhaps the only useful thing in the video is that Caribbean Beach has major construction. Stick to food please.
Disney Mom 74: Yes, I’ve stayed at the Grand Floridian many times. I’ve been lucky enough to stay at nearly all of the Disney resorts. There are pros and cons to all of them. I’m glad you enjoy the Grand — thanks for sharing your personal opinion 🙂
Wow Disney Mom 74, can you please tell us what you really think. You do realize that everyone has an opinion and AJ even explained why she felt the way she did. Or perhaps…YOU are wrong and shouldn’t post your junk. But that’s just my opinion.
I completely agree with your points. Especially about the Grand Floridian and Coronado Springs. Coronado Springs used to have great food at one time and then they changed it for the worse.
My favorite is the Polynesian Resort because it is on the Monorail and its close proximity to The Magic Kingdom, the views, the food is great and the décor and ambience is unforgettable.
One thing about Saratoga Springs, from a British perspective, is that it’s usually the cheapest hotel we can stay at and get the full Dining Plan for free – that’s a big factor money-wise. Although two of us went a couple of years ago and stayed at Port Orleans and then paid the difference to upgrade to the full Dining Plan from the Quick Service, but you have to have done your maths and research to work that one out!
Stayed at grand Floridian in January. I gotta say I totally enjoyed it. The resort was the prettiest I have ever stayed at. Also totally enjoyed the orchestra at night there. Gf has a lot going for it
