1. Rose Gold Minnie Ears Cupcake, Sunshine Seasons, Epcot
All the frosting on the Rose Gold Ears Cupcake is vanilla buttercream with a bit of cream cheese, while the ears themselves are fondant. Inside, the cake is a vanilla and nutella chocolate marble.
2. Peanut Butter and Jelly Flower Pot Cupcake, Sunshine Seasons, Epcot
While you’re collecting your Rose Gold Ears Cupcake at Sunshine Seasons, dig up the Peanut Butter and Jelly Flower Pot Cupcake as well. This one wins points for being both delicious (the PB&J are prominent and tasty!) and pretty. (The toppers are technically edible, too!).
3. Belle Cupcake, Main Street Confectionery, Magic Kingdom
There’s nothing overtly over the top on this cupcake, but my experience — and that of many of our readers — has been that the balance between cake and frosting here is perfect. And the simple flavors make this a classic and elegant choice.
Note that you can also find this one at other confectioneries and candy shops around the parks and resorts, e.g. Screen Door General Store at the Boardwalk Resort.
4. Master’s Cupcake, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Magic Kingdom
Then, because the only thing better than one royal cupcake is a second royal cupcake, make an ADR for Be Our Guest Restaurant, and order the Master’s Cupcake. It’s frosted in “the Grey Stuff” — a cookies and cream mousse — and wrapped in a fancy silver wrapper, so basically you’re a member of the enchanted household once you eat it.
5. Churro Cupcake, Contempo Cafe, Contemporary Resort
But if you CAN find it, the Churro Cupcake is especially epic — the sweet cinnamon flavored cake topped with buttercream and a churro piece are incredible. But the custard inside the cake brings this one to the next level.
We also love the Monorail Cupcake here, and that one seems to be a more permanent cupcake option — so dig in!
6. Campfire Cupcake, Roaring Fork, Wilderness Lodge
Chocolate cake is topped with vanilla frosting, crushed cookie “dirt”, candy rocks, and a frosting “campfire.” On top is one tiny roasted marshmallow! Adorable and fun.
7. Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Cupcake, Trolley Car Cafe, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This one is chocolate cake filled with chocolate fudge. The whole thing is topped with a mound of vanilla buttercream and covered in crushed butterfinger. Seems simple, but it’s truly amazing. And might very well do you in!
8. Spaceship Earth Cupcake, Fountainview Cafe, Epcot
9. Salted Caramel Cupcake, Karamell Küche, Epcot
The cake itself is so dense that it’s almost a brownie. This is a good one to share if you’re not into super sweet desserts.
10. Star Wars Cupcakes, Backlot Express, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Kylo Ren is chocolate and peanut butter, while the droid is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Two awesome options.
11. Spaghetti and Meatballs Cupcake, Mama Melrose Ristorante Italiano, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
12. Cotton Top Tamarin Cupcake, Creature Comforts, Animal Kingdom
From time to time, the Cotton Top Tamarin will be replaced by a different specialty cupcake at Creature Comforts, so if that’s the case when you visit, grab something else!
13. Mickey Oreo Cupcake, Boardwalk Bakery, Boardwalk Resort
If you prefer a little more style than substance, though, you could go with one of the seasonal cupcakes at Boardwalk Bakery, like this Rose Cupcake. This beauty is subtle in the flavor department (vanilla cake, very subtle raspberry frosting), but it is very high on style!
14. Frosting Shots, Sprinkles Cupcake Bakery, Disney Springs WDW, Downtown Disney Disineyland
Y’all knew we couldn’t do a Disney cupcake crawl without a stop at the cupcake mecca, right? Stop into Sprinkles and select any of their classic and creative cupcakes!
But our go-to here at Sprinkles has always been the Frosting Shots. They’re the best way to get that direct line of sugar as quickly as possible! ;-D
Bonus Round!
OK, if 13 cupcakes isn’t enough for you, it’s time for the DFB Cupcake Challenge BONUS ROUND! These aren’t necessarily cupcakes…and two of them are on a Disney cruise ship, but they ARE amazing, so we had to include them for extra points!
Peanut Butter Brownie, The Mara, Animal Kingdom Lodge
Unicorn Cupcake and Go-Kart Sundae, Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats, Disney Dream Cruise Ship
While you’re there, you might was well also order the Go-Kart Sundae! This indulgent treat is three scoops of ice cream and five toppings — all your choice! And it comes in this totally cool Go-Kart/Race Car, which the cast members will wash out for you — because it’s yours to keep! What a fun souvenir! (FYI, the wheels actually turn in case you have a tiny car enthusiast in your party like I do.)
Whoopie Pies, Sweet Spells, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
And while you’re at Sweet Spells, we insist you not leave until you’ve gotten a Carrot Cake Cookie. These disks of carrot cake sandwich an epic cream cheese frosting. Get this. Nope — scratch that. Get two.
King Whoopie Pie, Everything Pop, Pop Century Resort
Okay, we could go on and on. But this is a crawl of our favorite cupcakes — the ones we think you’ll love and that will give you a good cross-section of the available goodies available around the World. Cupcake on, food friends!

Hey I was wondering if there was any kind of check list/booklet or map for the cupcake challenge. Would love to try to tackle this challenge. , Thanks Joe
DFB Sarah says
Joe, we haven’t put together a checklist or booklet, but we appreciate the suggestion! Good luck with the challenge!
Jayne says
Me and the BFF are doing this in September and our trip is kind of planned with this in mind.
We are not doing it all in one day, though.
When I made our dinner reservation at Be Our Guest, I told her we were getting a 3 course meal to get a cupcake and she laughed and put “Cupcake Hunt” in the What Are You Celebrating? answer box.
Carrie says
Do you know anywhere you can get the Cappuccino cupcakes like the one pizza planet us to have ?
Paola says
Hi, we will go to WDW with my two kids 19 to 25 october and they are really looking forward to do the cupcake challenge (not in one day though!).
Is it possible to get the ones at Contempo Cafe and Ft. Wilderness Lodge at any time of the day or only during breakfast?
Your great! Food + DISNEY = Fun!!
DFB Sarah says
Paola, they should be in the pastry cases all day long! Good luck and enjoy!
Tammy says
Ditto on Carrie’s question… By the time we discovered the awesomeness of the cappuccino cupcake at the old Pizza Planet they were gone the next year with the renovation : ( Any spotting of it (or similar) anywhere else?
DFB Sarah says
Tammy, we haven’t seen a cappuccino cupcake for some time. We’ll post if we do!
Robin says
Any word on updates for post-holiday cupcakes? Going the last week of the month & my girls are excited to design our own crawl lol!
DFB Sarah says
Robin, what a fun idea! We still recommend the Rose Gold Cupcake at Sunshine Seasons, and if the Flower Pot is back, that’s great there, too! Definitely pencil in some time to hit up Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary for any of their specialty cupcakes. You’ll want to throw in a Purple Passion cupcake (resorts and confectioneries are good bets to find one!) so you’re really on-trend. 😉 Animal Kingdom brought back the Lion King Cupcake, so that would be a fun one to try. You might want to keep the classic Hollywood Studio’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Cupcake (the old Butterfinger Cupcake!), too!
Renee says
Cappuccino cupcake is the absolute best! It was in Pizza Planet before it closed. Anyone know where it is now? Or the recipe?
