Lest you think Disneyland Resort’s Pixar Fest is just serving up snacks like Funnel Cake Fries topped with sugary, fruity cereal and Cocoa Churros with Mexican-Spiced Chocolate Dip, today we invite you to step into the past at Carnation Café. It’s here you’ll find two throwback entrées: a Pork Chop TV Dinner and a Fried Bologna Sandwich.
These two Grandma’s kitchen-worthy dishes are inspired by the heartwarming (tear-jerking) Pixar film Up!, in which viewers watch sweet Carl and his love Ellie grow old together.
Carl’s Fried Bologna Sandwich is served on Toasted Pullman Bread, which is buttered and cooked on a griddle.
You’ll also find Aioli, Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickles on there — not to mention a huge side of crispy French Fries.
And the Fried Bologna? It’s seriously amazing! Think: hot dog sandwich. That’s basically what this tastes like. And we love it!
The Pork Chop TV Dinner is served in the classic divided tray (although not the foil version of the TV dinner’s hey day). All the components are here — and they’re all terrific!
The Pork Chop is perfectly cooked, with a light sear, Spiced Apples, and Mashed Potatoes (skin on).
The Pork is juicy and not overdone. It goes as well with the Apples as the classic combo should.
The Peas and Carrots are a bit more upscale than a traditional TV dinner — with some caramelization and a ton of flavor.
The Cornbread is simple and tasty, with a healthy dollop of butter.
Even the Molten Lava Cake — which in a typical TV dinner would be a dried out hockey puck — was awesome!
The interior was piping hot and gooey! Molten Lava Cake, indeed!
So if you’re in need of a full meal during Pixar Fest (rather than dining exclusively on churros all day…), head on over to Carnation Café for two truly stellar options!

Oh my, the pork dinner looks like prison food!

Wow. $13.00 for the bologna sandwich? I guess prices in Disneyland must be a lot higher than in WDW. You get a lot of fries, but still. It’s a bologna sandwich.

Carl’s TV dinner was amazing. That apple sauce and mashed potatoes were a perfect compliment to the tender pork chop. Also don’t forget about the SuperNOVA Pizza at the Pizza port, it is a holy matrimony of a cheeseburger and pizza! Lastly, the Adorable snowman at DCA isn’t serving up some lemon soft serve awesomeness!

@Michelle I’m hard pressed to come up with a sit down restaurant off the top of my head with a sandwich entree for under $13.00. Even Plaza in’s cheapest sandwiches – the reuben and the club – – are $15.00 each! And that’s supposed to be the cheap place to eat in MK!!!
